: Helping others on the trail.
Roc Dog 10-22-2002, 02:35 PM I want to put a thanks out to Booger Weldz, YotaCrawler and Dustin for the help they gave my friend Jeff this weekend.
It was 3pm on Sunday and pretty much everyone was already gone and headed home. My friends AllPro steering arm broke just on the rocks before the Soup Bowl. We were screwed! We hooked up with these guys who did not have a welder but knew we could weld by hooking up some batterys with battery cables. Well after hunting down some welding rod, 2 sets of battery cables, connecting 3 batterys together Booger Weldz was able to weld together my buddies steering arm and we got of the trail.
Out of the 3 batterys that were used some how mine was the one that blew up. And I mean BLEEEWWWWW UUUUPPPPP!!! It sounded like a shot gun going off. It splatered battery acid on all of us. It was crazy. So I had to wheel out with no battery, no rock lights and no head lights. I had Yotacrawler in front of me with his rear rock lights lighting the way for me.
Dustin had to tow this other guy out who thought he would tackle the Rubicon by himself, open front and rear, no t-case gears and tires fully aired. Well needless to say he busted both his front birfs so he was running with 1 wheel drive.
So if it were not for these guy it would have been a much longer day than it was. Plus to make things more entertaining Paul decided to roll his junk on the way out. Thanks again guys....
Roc Dog 10-22-2002, 02:36 PM another weld shot
Roc Dog 10-22-2002, 02:37 PM Here is a pic of the arm half welded.

Was this the blue toyota, by any chance? I followed him for a while and watched him bounce off of rocks everywhere. I suggested earlier that airing down would get him a lot of traction. Then he had trouble in the Soup Bowl area (not the Soup Bowl, but just the trail). He told us that airing down last time caused him to break his birfield. I suggested that maybe it was his right foot bouncing on the gas pedal that caused his birfields to break. What a bozo. Good karma to you for strapping him out.
I too ran the trail in rear wheel drive. Only needed a little tug around the last tree at gate keeper.

Paul Gagnon 10-22-2002, 09:35 PM Cool pics Dave.
Did you happen to find my gloves in the back seat of your truck?
pipefitter 10-22-2002, 09:53 PM Stop rolling that thing Booger Weldz . I think you need training wheels on that thing . :D
Roc Dog 10-22-2002, 10:28 PM Paul,
I have not even looked in my junk sence I got home. I have no idea if your gloves are in there. I know your pretzels where and I ate them. :D What happened to you? How did you get back out? I was a little buzzed by the time we hit the box. Drop me a PM with your address. If your gloves are in the back of my junk I will send them to you.
YotaCrawler 10-22-2002, 10:30 PM yea, Captain Birfield was quiet the dumbass!!! i gave him a tug over the long bypass around little sluice, and he sat there and let me do everything my goddamned self, didnt even have the truck running to get his one wheel drive to help. fawkin fag, i wanted to let the cable go and push him back down!!! nice wheelin wit ya, good patiance too, i would have kicked and thrown shit at my truck wit no battery.

Roc Dog 10-22-2002, 10:34 PM Yea, the guy in the blue toy was a little lost. Not sure if he had balls for planning to do a trip on the con by himself with no lockers, no t-case gears and fully aired up or if he just wasnt the sharpest tool in the shed. Either way he was a nice enough guy and I am glad we got him out of there. He had two trucks full of his family sitting at Loon when we pulled up at like 11pm. Fawking crazy!!! But they were happy to see him and his daughter was all smiles so like Paul said, it made pulling his broken junk out off the trail worth while....
YotaCrawler 10-22-2002, 10:45 PM YUP:D
