: Which Beadlocks are best???
CRZR45 10-22-2002, 05:52 PM I am looking for some input on which Beadlocks are working good for people and which ones to stay away from????I just got a new set of 37"MTR'S and want an aluminum beadlock rim 15x10 or 15x8??? I have heard from some that you need a certain # of bolts to work better?
kling-on 10-22-2002, 06:02 PM 32 bolts the more the better my 18 bolts break all the time also get the ones with no head i think avalanche makes a trail ready ring that is cool:D
wngrog 10-22-2002, 06:08 PM For rockcrawling and slow (under 70 mph) speeds the 18 bolt beadlocks are fine.
The reason folks break the 18 bolt is that they overtighten the bolts. Mine are at 12 lbs and they never break, however when I first got them I torqued them hard and the first time I went on the road the tires expanded and busted 1/2 the bolts on one of my wheels.
I properly torqued them after I fixed my boo boo and have not had problems since.
I have had MRT 18's for 2 years and they still look great, and have held up to SERIOUS abuse.
I recently purchased some Trailready Beadlocks so I can be as cool as Mace :flipoff2:
kling-on 10-22-2002, 06:20 PM broke mine off when the ring folded on a rock and broke it... dont drive it on the road mine are cheap king steel though...http:// :D

Keep in mind that I have heard of some delivery issues with the TR's. Nolen, have you got yours yet?
Although they are very nice :)
SpaceGhost 10-23-2002, 07:07 AM Aluminum is sweet to look at, and maybe lighter but it's hard to beat steel for durability. MRT's are the most affordable and their new ring and bolts are very cool. Like Nolan said 18 is plenty just don't overtighten them.
I also have a set of TR/Avalanche's on steel wheels. They do look cool (Jason :) ) but the ring is flat with no surface to center the tire, for the $$ seems that would be standard. Maybe they have changed their design, mine are a year old or so. BTW, the MRT's don't center the tire either, but where else can you achieve this level of bling-bling........................

Jason M 10-23-2002, 07:25 AM The TR's do center the bead on the rim itself. There is a very thick inner centering ring. the outer ring is flat... But is very thick and strong..
krcruiser 10-23-2002, 08:19 AM I have Champion rims with 37 MTRs and this works but it is spendy...If I was only gonna do off highway travel only and a38 -42 swamper I would go Rockstomper.
Shipwreck 10-23-2002, 10:55 AM I also have Champions, but instead of buying them outright, I had my Eagle 589s converted. If you already own a set of aluminum rims that you are happy with, this might be an option for you. When I had mine done several years ago it was about $90 per rim. I dropped them off at Milan's place personally and picked them up a week later with cash and no receipt though... ;)
$137.50 advertised now. :(
If you are using these on daily driver I would definitely get a beadlock with an inner ring that centers the tire. Balancing a tire for street or freeway use will be much easier.

Medusa 10-23-2002, 12:52 PM SpaceGhost definitely has the bling-bling rims. I think mine are just plain funky.Certainly different than all others. Made by Aggressive Offroad.

gunracer1 10-23-2002, 01:41 PM i am swapping all my stuff over to hummer rims. they are the best. locks both sides and less bolts to torque all the time. now if i can find a set of 42 or 44 to fit some 16.5s i will be rollin. mike
freds40 10-23-2002, 04:34 PM I just called High Impact about their 32 bolt black steel bead locks. Killer price. I believe these are the wheels that they reviewed on the Pirate home page. Sweet price, give 'em a call.
CRZR45 10-23-2002, 09:11 PM Thanks for all the imput. There are endless choices out there. I have a set of 37x12.5x15 Goodyear MTR's and want them to be safe on the freeway, minimal re-torq of bolts. Leaning toward hummer locks. Where do I get a set? The Rock stompers looked sweeeet! I want to buy the right and best ones the first time..
wngrog 10-24-2002, 11:18 AM Hey Mace,
My TR's shipped excatly when they said they would...3 weeks with custom backspacing.
If I had ordered standard BS, they would have shipped immediatly.
Just an FYI....
gunracer1 10-24-2002, 01:11 PM the hummers only come in 16.5 rim size.
