: What is the hardest trail/obstacle at RC? What trails would you...

Assume you were going to take some hardcore wheelers from across the country around the park for a day...what trails are mandatory in your book? Shoot out some ideas of how you would spend your "day of hardcore at Rausch Creek".

BTW, this is not just a fun exercise in futility. This may play an integral part in some up-coming events later this year so I am trying to see what the users of the park think.
Thanks.

I live 25 minutes from the park and am there 2-3 weekends each month so I know the park and what I like. I was wondering what other people think are good trails and may be beneficial to show out-of-towners.

The last 1/3 of rock creek.
Otters way.
Walk in the park.
The crack on CV.
Might be a couple on the new side. I've not been over there yet.

there is nothing hard at rausch.

with that being said, the notch on CV trail is more than hard, and the drop off that used to be used on the natural stuff by WEROCK that is all gown up now. Other than that everything else is a walk in the park depending on the vehicle.

Have you tried Shoot the Moon? That initial climb gives my rig fits, but I have made it 3/4 times I have tried it.

Devil's Den seems to be an interesting area for some play. My winch cable went into my alternator just as I was climbing it last week so I don't know if I could get up or not yet. I have not tried Talisman yet--sounds promising.

Aside from the comp areas here is my top 5 funnest/hardest at RC:

1. Shoot the Moon
2. Trail 5 hillclimb
3. CV trail climbs/crack
4. O trail red climb
5. Devil's Den

i helped cut outer limits on the new property, i cant see how that wouldnt make ur list. its otters but severely uphill. while cutting it, halfway up i was wanting a grappeling hook :D

bernie (rc staff) has been bragging up lower talisman, its apparently the new "cats ass" of hardcore.

I ran Outer limits not aired down in a few minutes before it was run in. Rocks were rolling down the hill. I cant see how it got harder as moving rock usually fill's holes. Red ran it with a open front and made all but 5 feet of it. I suggest you run Otter then go run Outer limits. BTW people with open fronts and 35's have run Otters as well. Otters is deffinitly harder than Outer limits.

What I saw of Lower Talisman was a few rocks with loose dirt between and tree in the way on the climb in. I didnt even bother trying after watching everything move downhill. I run upper in no time flat.

Devil's Den is probly the hardest thing to me there now. Its like a play area though not really a trail. F* trail is fun and reminds me of places of yesterday. STM and Bad idea is cool but the climb is the hardest thing. The rest is a nice trail but not super hard. Walk in the park and Cemtary were fun till it got run in. Now its high traction and like most stuff it got easier once run in.

My rig isnt close to a well put together buggy. 4700lbs and way underpowered. I'd imagine if I was in a well put together buggy it would just get easier. Bring them out in the snow thats when the trails get fun...

If you want trail, I'd say Otter's, O-Trail, Devil's Den, the red section of Keystone, and Outer Limits. If you talk obstacles, it has to be Jotters, 5 hillclimb, CV Crack, F*, and Shoot the Moon.

I agree with Dan. Even though its not the hardest trail around, you'd have to take a first timer over to Rock Creek and at least let them look at it. lt gives the illusion of being a hell of alot harder than it actually is.

Is the red section of Keystone clear yet? the last half of the black section we couldnt find awhile back.

Been a long time since I've been on it. The climb on it was nasty and slippery.

If you spend enough time on lower Talisman, you'll make it up. Both upper and lower Talisman have tons of tree's marked for removal too. Outer limits could be really awesome if it gets cut to the right, near the top, and could be made into a more technical trail. The one downfall is that Outer Limits is so far from everything else.

Right now the park is especially easy with all the dry weather, add the cheater tires that the competitors are using and it is really a joke. Hopefully you get a few days of rain before they come out.

I like a lot of the trails at the park, you just need to plan a good route to hit everything within short driving distance or boredom sets in driving from spot to spot.

Also, Jotters is a joke now, the RCQ killed it.

what and where is keystone?

trail 19 on the west property, directly above and part of the clear cut. Red and black sections run right up to Rt.209.

Down the red section.

This was my favorite trail at RC for a long time. Run the Red section and then the black turn around and come back through the other way. Those pic's are a few years old and are before the cutting took place.
