Who can help me with how to mount the spring perch on the diff side of my d44? I know I need to grind it, but does anyone have some good advice on how much grinding is allowable?

Grind down the ridges on the housing for retaining the ubolts, and then open up the cutout on the new perch to fit over this and be as low as possible. This will leave the diff side perch about .5" taller than the other. I make a "zero rate AAL or a small block" that I bolt into the spring pack a half inch thick x the width of the spring, x the length of the spring perch. This leaves the vehicle sitting level.

Or Take your other perch and figure out the height, Once you figure that out, Take your other perch and figure out the height of that and then deduct how much you are going to need to grind.

For mine I basiclly use a different purch on one side then I did on the other, and I had to grind a lot off..

Heres a picture of how much I had to grind

Thats exactly how i did mine. except i didnt put a perch on the diff. side.. just drilled a hole into the casting untill it hit the tube for the center pin to set in. works great.. been in there for 2 years now.
