If that title isnt flame bait, I don't know what is!!!
I"m building a 64 IH travelall, w/ shackle flip in back (+or-6" gain total) and Planning on running chevy fronts(73-87). Since stock chevy fronts are flat, if not reverse arch (stock IH units have some + arch), and the BD 220 in the travelall is much heavier than a SBC, I think I am going to need a 8" chevy front. Are there any 8" springs that have any flex to em? or are they all stiff as a board?
thanks

Not sure if they make 8"ers but Tuff Country EZ Rides are reported to be the softest ones around...........I know they make 6" lift springs. I run their 4" HD ones and they ride better than any I've had, and I've had RC, Rancho, Superlift before.........

Skyjackers are also stiffer than a fawking board :flipoff2: :flipoff2: I have there 4" "soft ride" on my 1 ton chevy. Not very soft. I think that for the most part any 8" lift spring will be pretty stiff.

Superlift makes up to 12" front springs. I have the superlift 6"soft rides and they are stiff as shit but articulate fairly well. AFAIK all 8" springs will be stiff.

Do the chevy springs bolt right up? If you gotta make em fight I would drop the brakets 1-3" get like a 2" shackle and a softride 4" spring. Or build some crazy ass shackle mounts and run stock springs.

BDS makes a 8" lift spring, and i have heard some good things about them. I will put money on it they will be a hell of a lot better than skyjackers :flipoff2:

It's sorta a bolt in (if I move the shacle back to the 2wd location). I am giving serious thought to dropping the hangars and going with the 4" springs or something , The only thing is the weight of that damn 6 cyl might invert them too easy (I have heard it is around 1K lbs and the way it pushes jackstands into tar, I believe it) I am not too concerned with ride, primarily looking to gain flex, and a bit of hight. It is gunna be hard to tell how flexy the springs ar gunna be under my overweight POS w/ o tryin it, but from the sounds of it the 8" springs ar too stiff, But I think IF I do go w/ them I will use The BDS ones for the warintee
Thanks

Dont know if they make an 8", but my friend is running the 6" BDS on his Blazer and they are wonderfully soft. I have Ranchos...that will be the last time I ever buy them...

Damn if the skyjackers are stiffer than the tuff country ones, I would hate to see the tuff country's.
we put a set of 6" softrider skyjackers on my buddies 90 Sub 3/4 ton and it rides NICE!! I have 4 inch lift ranchos on my 85 Jimmy, and to compare the two would be like comparing a fricking brick (my jimmy) and a bowl of jello (darrens burb)
