I did a search and I couldn't find the current info. Are fire restrictions still in place? I might be going to Fordyce this weekend and a little campfire would be nice to keep the chill off if it is allowed. Thanks.

Last I heard it was supposed to rain on friday. If it rains enough it could change the fire restrictions.

you can always find fire restriction status on the forest service web pages. and the short answer is yes, campfire restrictions are still in effect.

Tahoe: http://www.r5.fs.fed.us/tahoe/

Eldorado: http://www.r5.fs.fed.us/eldorado/

in tahoe NF, read exhibit A, page 4.

http://www.r5.fs.fed.us/tahoe/le_i/02_jul_26_fire_restrictions.htm

1. Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, charcoal fire, campfire, or stove fire, except within the stoves and fire rings provided in the recreation sites shown on Exhibit A. 36 CFR 261.52(a).

it lists meadow lake camp sites, and I know some have metal fire rings.

So, I'd make a phone call if you are camping at meadow and find out for sure.

and the rumor I hear is it may take more than one light rain for them to drop the fire restrictions.
