I have a line on a nv 3550 out of a 2000 TJ for around $500. Is this a worth while replacement for a dying Peugeot in my 88 YJ?

It's not the worlds best trans, but it's far and away better than
the Peug - Crap you have.

you will need a t-case or imput shaft for the t-case also

where else (read "cheaper") can you get the 23 spline output besides Advance adaptors? theirs are $190

Your t-case shifter bracket will also need to be modified. You may be able to use an AX-15 unit, but it still might not fit. I was able to modify my original one to fit with the AX-15.

As far as an input go on the wanted section and buy the front half of a t-case that someone has put a teralow in. They just sit on peoples shelves and if you offered $50 I am sure someone would sell it.

Don't forget to get the tranny mounting bracket too. I had to fab one up. The factory price is like $100. You will have to modify your skid pan to use it too. The AX-15 bracket may work for this too, but I am not sure. If you try mounting it to the original holes it will be too high and the drive shaft angle will be too steap.

I almost forgot about the slave and master cylinder. You can use an adaptor hose and fitting from AA and use your master with the NV slave or get a complete Master/slave unit from a '94-95 YJ. You will need to drill a new hole in the fire wall and the plunger hole needs to be drilled out to 1/2" and shaved thinner about 1/8". This portion of the mod took me about 30 minutes.
