Here are a couple pics of the exo i've been working on, it still needs one bar down the middle of the windshield. The main structure is tacked on and is coming off to complete the welding and paint. I'm pretty happy with how it turned being the first time I've ever bent tube, I had no waste and this is 4.5 18ft. pieces of tube. Now I just want to get some more tube and do few more things to make it roll proof. :mr-t:

Thanks man. For now I'm going to run it, I ran out of tube. For any hardcore wheeling I'll take the top off. In the future I would like tube the back half. I'm going to add a nose pick for radiator/engine protection:grinpimp:

Nolan thanks for the words of encouragement, good to hear from you and thank you again for putting Maui on the 4x4 Map. The cage is for the safety factor, hopefully it will keep us safe. I think it is pretty dangerous running nutz trails with no protection.:D

Glad to be of help, you guys are a great bunch.

One thing about Exo cages is that if you go too far then you have the excess weight of the exo and they often make the toyota real top heavy.

With narrow Toyota axles, the extra weight up top makes you USE the exo a bit more :D

I'm getting ready to put this cage on, I fixed all the rust in the windshield frame, put in a new windshield, pulled some dents, and other touch ups. My question is I want to add one more bar through the cab right behind the front seats(basically a bar connecting the main hoop through the cab). Is it worth the work and having a bar come through your cab? I think this bar will strengthen my whole design and will give a place mount some harnesses to in the future. My main concern is in the event of hard rolls, can bar end hurting me, like maybe pushing into the back of the seat breaking my back. How far from the back and how high from the seats should I mount it. Any good feed back is appreciated.:grinpimp:

Paul, glad to see your looking at safety first. the bar behind the seat should be near shoulder height. There are a number of articles on here that address it, but Bill vistas article has some really good info on harness as well as shwing how some of the mounts can be done. The specific pics with the bar behind the seat is 3/4 of the way down the page.

Sorry guys I posted the exo pics in the wrong place:homer: Well here they are. I'm very happy with how it turned out (thank you pirate 4x4):D I ended up putting a cross bar through the cab behind the front seats, to hopefully help this shit hold up. I also connected the front tube fenders to the shock hoops and the rear quarter protection connects into the factory roll bar. For these things are never done, I still need to add a front nose pick(stinger) to protect the radiator and front clip along with a rear hoop to protect the rear.

Hey Paul, glad to see the progress. The bar behind the seats should help alot, but if you are gonna attach the harness points to it for shoulder straps, you will need to make an extention upward. The should harness points should be about 5degrees below 90, to the top of shoulders. Just trying to help ya be safe!
