Friend has 78-f150, that has sat for a while, we got the lift and tires on, brake lines and such done and fired it up and tried to go for a spin, but as we left the alley all hell broke loose, when you try and turn the wheel one way or the other. its like hitting a brick wall. When you turn the wheel one way its like you have hit the steering stop, but way to soon, turn the wheel the other way, and it happens again going the other way, turn it back and it happens again, but chances are in a diffrent spot, just wondering what causing it, box or pump, and yes all line are hooked up, and there is fluid in the pump. any idea or comments beside search, because i did and couldnt find anything......

it sounds to mee like there is air in the system. J ack up the front end so both tires are off the ground. Turn from lock to lock about ....oh.....1,000 times. do this with th engine idling. Since it sat for a while I would try to change all pwr steering fluid to new stuff, then you will really have air in there, so you'll need to spend a good amount of time bleeding the system, be careful not to run the pump dry. I've replaced everything on my 78f150's power steering system and it won't work at all if you don't bleed it right. Also, don't hold it at the locked position on either side for longer than a second or two, I hear this can damage stuff
Hope that helps
