I have pictures all over pirate of our wheels. In customers build threads and in a lot of posts that I have made. People ask me all the time if I have a picture of this or a picture of that. I'm going to post up some pictures of some of the wheels we have made and we would love for customers to post up pictures of our whees on their rigs as well. This thread will give our customers a chance to see what different powder coat colors look like as well as dif. rock rings. THERE ARE PAGES AND PAGES OF TWF WHEELS ON CUSTOMERS RIGS IN THIS THREAD

Check us out for your custom double beadlock needs. www.TrailWorthyFab.com

Here's mine...couldn't be happier with the wheels or the service from these guys. Mine are hammered black with orange outers (kuboto orange I think). When they are clean they are the color of the jeep. Standard rock ring and PVC inserts. Also run his 36" bias ply tires. I run 2 to 3 lbs in them when wheelin and have never had a problem. Also recommend the rock rings, they have saved my valve stems several times.

I really dig the wheels. Wish they were a bit lighter (my Tire/wheel combo weighs 140lbs per corner) but otherwise I'm really liking them. With Airsoft BB's for tire weights, I can drive 80mph and only have a slight shimmy with these, so run out is near perfect.

I would highly recommend getting yours powder coated by Trail Worthy if you can afford it. Painting them is a pain in the butt, and none of the powder coating places in Denver could even come close to the pricing that TW has.

I haven't got any pictures yet, but I do want to comment on what a class act the guy's at Trailworthyfab.com are. I left a message Saturday morning to simply speak to someone & get a possible price quote for some H1 stuff. A couple hours later, I received a return phone call from Andy (aka Dookey). Super nice guy, we ended up talking for over 30 minutes about jeeps, offroading, & cutting up low mileage Rubicons. He gave me the quote & I made a quick decision to place the order. 4 days later which is today I received my stuff, which just so happens to be great quality product.

Thanks again for the top notch service & I HIGHLY recommend this outfit to anyone!!!

What color is this? The hammered black that is really dark gray?

That was hammered Silver. We just switched up our hammered silver powder and I will post up a picture of the new silver for you. The dark gray you talk of again is hammered silver. That is one of my orig. powder coat, the ones I did from day one. I loved that powder for the fact that Hammered silver from Walmart in the hammered paints was a balls on match. So.... If you jack a ring up on the rocks you can go back and touch them up with spray paint right over the powder and have it be an exact match.

Robert Earl. Meet the band :nuke:

I made those wheels and that customer posted up pictures or sent me pictures of the wheels we made for him. If they added rockrings to wheels that I made that is on them. Maybe they painted them or maybe we did all of it. Sorry.... I only have about 10,000 wheels out there. I don't recall exactly what we did to that customers wheels but I can tell you that we recentered them. God bless.

Looks like the new hammered silver is actual silver now with the picture from dookey. Trying to get an order placed today and am looking for a DARK gray ring with wet black wheel. Will it be best to just get the rings raw? Meaning no paint and do a rattle can on the ring?

:grinpimp:Thanks for the picture and story!!!:grinpimp:

i drove about 150miles on i-70 on pure ice then 125 miles on i-15 in ice/snow the state patrol had shut down i-15 where it meets i-70 due to about 8 semis falling off the high way 1/2 mile down the road at 10pm sunday night. a fire fighter that was helping check the big rigs for snow chains stopped to ask about my wheels/tires and after a bit of chat on the radio he waved me onto a few officers that told me if i wanted to continue down the road they were ok with it but i would have to follow an tow truck once it showed up. needless to say it was amazing to be zig zaging around all the traffic stuck on the road in the snow and ice. i was happy the truck and trailer had no problem thru 4" of fresh snow on top of 3" of old snow on top of ice following a tow truck like the road was dry. my wife was a bit worried at first but after the first few mins she was happy to see how well we were doing.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t213/406yj/KORE%20BRM%20Auction/2011-03-04_16-12-24_536.jpg

We have just started moving inventory over to the new TWF location in Wichita, KS. This was before they were stacked and when there were only 300 tires. We look to have over 750 tires hauled over and get started moving wheels too. My goal is to keep around 750 tires and 4000 wheels in Wichita. The rest will be stored off site. Everything will be inside.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t213/406yj/KORE%20BRM%20Auction/2011-03-07_19-34-44_80.jpg

The start to hauling 1000's of H1 Wheels to the new location. This is going to take some time moving all of them 50 miles by way of our box truck. I'm thinkinking it is going to take more than 2 weeks having some of our guys do nothing other than move wheels all day every day.

I'm not sure that we have ever had someone want the inside of the wheel lime green, only the outer. (so I will not have any pictures to post of that powder combo, sorry)

The outer is the outside half or in the event that rock rings are welded to the outside of the wheel the rock rings too. inner is the part that has your wheel center in it.

TWF has added a new line of tires.
These are moving fast. Guard Dog 37" Radials. I set a blow out price
of $175 ea. (Try and find a tire with 100% rubber in a 37" for even close to that).
These tires wear great on the road and do great offroad. They are a softer
compund than the reg 37" MT and the side lugs are spaced out wide to clean
out offroad but tight in the middle to drive well on the street. Attached is a
link to them on the site. You can double click the pictures to make them
larger. Give us a call with any questions 316.337.5311

Are these tires retreads?

406 YJ
05-16-2011, 01:44 PM
Are these tires retreads?

I will get you your answer but only after explaining tires to people first. Semi trucks are known to run "caps" on their non drive tires. These are tires where rubber is in a large roll. You cut off the amount of tread that is needed to go around a tire and you glue it on. This is the reason you see so many "gators in the road" as the over the road truck drivers have been known to call them. The tire tread will just fall off the tire at a point. A new tire is made with a case (the side wall and a bald top to the tire). It then goes on a machine that applies the rubber to the tire. The way a new tire is made makes it near impossible to have the tread come off of the tire. Retread tires are made the exact same way as a new tire only you re-use the case. These tires are made by a company that has been making tires for the us postal service and other large contracts for years. The only thing that has been used before is the casing which is pressure tested before making a new tire out of the recycled casing. The average 37" tire takes 20 quarts of oil to make. That is a TON of waist when going to our landfills. I supply them with quality casings and they send me new tires. Retreads yes. Made any different than a new tire? No. This tire is one of the only ones in the world that offers a 2 year or 24,000 mile warranty. They don't have to do that and you will not need it. This tire is tested, proven and even been in magazines over the years. TWF jumped in and has exclusive rights to the 37" Guard Dog. We are pumped about this tire. It does a couple of things. Gives us a chance to sell a new tire at a fraction of the cost. We know when every tire goes out that it is perfect and will run down the road perfect. There is no sorting of them and they do not have to go thru the 100 pt. checks that our take off tires do. They are made of a softer compund than the stock MT tires that I have been selling for years. They work better off road than the MT's and they work great on the highway as well. They are DOT approved. Mark my word when I say, you will not be let down :smokin:

Starting to get reviews on our exclusive 37" Guard Dog tire:smokin:
Got these tires on Tuesday last week. Thanks for the fast shipping. Was able to get them mounted up for the weekend. I didn't really get a chance to take them off road this weekend, but I did put some miles on them. I put about 350 miles over the weekend. And I have nothing but good things to say about the street driving. Great handling and very quite. My Jeep was up over 70 mph at points and these tires felt great. I went on several steep rocky dirt roads in 2 wheel drive low and never sliped a tire while pulling a loaded trailer with a bike, quad and camping gear. All I got for pics were some cell phone pics for now. I'll post up some better ones after a real wheel'in trip.

Thanks, Guys for the great tires. :D

Thanks for the pictures :grinpimp:

First off BIG BIG thanks to Andy (Dookey) at trailworthy. Great guy to deal with and by far the best buying experience of anything Iv bought... EVER . He answered all of my questions and was very patient whether it was pm or phone call.

also would like to thank venom for helping me out to:beer:

Then almost the best thing is I was told it would be 3 to 4 weeks before the tires would ship. No big deal I knew I would have to wait for them. Well two weeks later I get a call and my tires are already here :D.

Now I know what your thinking what could be better than getting your tires two weeks early. Well Andy is such a nice guy he even got me a date ( well maybe he didnt have anything to do with the date part but I like to think he did). This is what was waiting to give me my tires when I got to the shipping company.

would these fit on a stock Dodge D70 with drum brakes? I had some 16.5 Stazworks wheels that wouldn't fit for some reason. I think they were reversed maybe? The stock wheels were 16.5s.

anyways, how much for 5 of these with 5 41.5x13.5 pitbull radials? Pressed centers, matte black

Andy was so nice as to put together a set of grooved tires and wheels for me this weekend. Loaded them in my truck and sent them with a friend who went to MO to pick up a jeep that we will be building on. I'm going to start out with our Grooved 37" MT's on it.

The second the powder is dry we box the orders up and get them out the door. A couple of sets were on the shop floor so I took a quick pic. We get asked all the time what a wheel looks like with our without a rock rings.

Is there any significant difference in the traction both on and off the road with the lugs grooved. Have any that have been siped in the same pattern as in the pic or a combo of both siped and grooved?

Grooving really helps the tires flex. So they will mold over what you have going on quite a bit better. I have been afraid of the siping tool as I think it will help the tires chunk if you go too far into the tread. Grooving adds quite a bit to the tires.

Thanks for the info. I was going to groove them similar to the kevlar mtr's where half lugs where spaced out and the other half closer together. Now I'll just groove the lugs as you all did. I think it'll look better also.

edit: here's the thread I started in regards to the braking issue I have.: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1008894

Mounted the wheels/tires last night. They look great. I rattle canned the wheels with Rusto primer and gloss black. The tires are grooved down the middle 2 lugs. However, after some test runs down the street, I'm thinking my brakes are not up to par with these heavier wheels. I'll discuss that in a different thread and provide a link..... Here's the pics.

They look great! I have to say the breaking issue is a first that I have been around or had feedback on. It sounds like you have a 44 front which would be even more beef than a stock solid axle of a toyota front and we have 100's of the same wheel/tire combo on Yotas. Please let us know if we can help in any way.

Hmmm, I'm wondering what other issues there could be then. I had to swap back to my 35's in order to drive the rig.

In anycase, I'll continue the conversation in the other thread as to not divert this thread.

Thanks again Todd (and Andy) for a great product and awesome customer service!!!!!

I wish we could have ran the race longer, not for me but for my co-driver... He had never been in an U4 car before and was eating up ever min of it. 3 miles in a 30 amp fuse took us out. (bad ground). It's ok.... This was my rookie year and there is a lot to be gained from it, now I have all winter to make changes.

I don't have a DANA 44 on my rig as I am running an early (1980) Toyota front axle with Longfields and FJ60 rotors with stock V6 calipers. No braking problems with mine running 37x12.5x15 MTR's, or the Wrangler MT/TWF 8 bolts and now the 36" bias tires on the same H1's. Of course I have a manual transmission and I downshift whenever I can slowing down to help save my brakes! I do prefer the bias tires as they ride a little softer and are lighter so I get slightly better acceleration from my 2RZ.

I will own one of these in the next year. As right now we put the wheels and tires together, add air and give them at min. 24 hours to make sure the tires do not lose any air at all. This machine will allow us to do that on the spot and not have to wait 24 hours.

Them's some eye poppers!

Ya, they jump that's for sure. Years ago I had a guy in Colorado that found his old Toyota. He had bought it new from the dealership, sold it local and always wished he had it back. After he tracked it down and got it back he restored it back to original with a few mods. He sent me a picture of him with the truck back in the 80's. He wanted his beadlocks to look as much like the stock wheels as far as color as he could. We ended up making him white wheels. When I wrote the work order up for my guys my gut feeling was that they wouldn't look very good. But after wraped in 37' tires they looked great. The customer loved them and I was impressed with how they turned out as well.

Andy was working his ass off this weekend on our box truck to get it going and I took a picture of a wheel/tire that I thought looked good.

We have been working on cutting down rubber runflats. This is after taking them to the tire truer to put the finishing touches on them.

This old but good lathe will be in the TWF shop in the AM. Over all it is 13' long and is an 18". She is a big girl. It tool half a day today for me to get it out of the shop where I found it and onto my trailer. Thank god our shop has a bigger door and the forklift can take it all the way. She should be powered up in the next day or two.

This has been a very exciting week. TWF has acquired quite a few more shop goodies that will allow us the availability to control more of our own procedure. Blasting and powder coating will soon be done in house. :smokin:

Good pic of our blast booth.

Application booth on the right. Big oven in the middle and little oven on the side for smaller parts.

Started out blasting my tie rods after getting them weldered up.

Got them hung up and grounded. You can't see my invisible respirator but it is there. :flipoff2:

I am sold on powder. I hope to never paint another part ever again. We will have the big oven up and running tomorrow. I'm going to try and get my control arms completed out this week and coat them next weekend. I'm very excited! :smokin:

Doesnt everyone use a engine hoist to dismount and mount their tires?

This works great to install and remove the pvc insert yourself!

Not a bad idea with the engine lift. Adding some tire slick helps too.

I have done a poor job of showing some of the wheels that have gone out the door I hope this makes up for it a little.....

8 bolt wheels, 8x6.5 pressed centers, 16 hole rock rings, powder coated chrome both inside (back half of wheel) and outers (rock rings).

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t213/406yj/TWF%20show%20and%20Tell/4-14-12c.jpg

These are 8 bolt wheels with 8x6.5 pressed centers and wicked rock rings, wrinkle black on the outers and Gloss Red in the back half.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t213/406yj/TWF%20show%20and%20Tell/4-14-12f.jpg

OD green on the outers with black on the back half. Standard Rock rings, 8 bolt wheels and pressed 8x6.5 centers

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t213/406yj/TWF%20show%20and%20Tell/4-14-12e.jpg

8 bolt wheels, no rock rings, powder coated wet black with pressed centers.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t213/406yj/TWF%20show%20and%20Tell/4-14-12d.jpg

We have a lot of customers want to paint their outers so it will be an exact match to their rig. This is a wheel/tire combo where we put the outer in the tumber so the cutomer can paint their own wheel but we powder coated the back half of the wheel. We do have a powder that is that exact same silver color as a tubled wheel.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t213/406yj/TWF%20show%20and%20Tell/4-14-12g.jpg

This machine was made just for our wheels. We use a mixture of products in it to get the wheels clean without hurting the metal.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t213/406yj/TWF%20show%20and%20Tell/4-14-12i.jpg

Looks like Tim has been kicking ass on the lathe working over all of the pvc's so they will fit over the wheel. He also makes each one for the style of tire you guys run. A lot of work goes into these.

Thanks for the picture!

The light cutoff is so much better with your bars than the old KC's she had up there, I was impressed. Glare on the windshield is almost non-existent with it up on the roof. I was debating on the 30" or 40" but I'm glad I got the 30". It fits perfect. I might try a Rigid bar clamp eventually to move it a little lower. She was to anxious to get it on :D

I have to say when I read this order "blue rock rings and white back half" I thought to myself... That can't look good. I don't know what they look like on your computer but in person they looked great!
