I am helping a guy swap in a SB chevy in his 93 YJ that came with the 4 banger. The previous owner yanked the engine out and unplugged the main engine harness which I assume had the leads for the temp and oil psi senders... we want to use the factory guages for now and need to know what color wire the temp and oil psi senders connect to.
Thanks

I would suggest going to the dealership and getting an actual service manual for that vehicle or at least a Chilton's manual from your local auto parts stores. They have wiring schematics in the back that will show you everything you need.

I'm 99% certain that the oil is purple, and 50% certain that the coolant is orange/black stripe. look at the sensors on the old engine. the colors should be the same. all the dash gauges should route thru an oval grommet in the center of the firewall, not the square bulkhead connector on the driver side of the firewall.

he is correct. 99% sure on the color too but they come through the center of the fire wall.
look onthe back of your gauges and follow the printed circuit to the wire connector on the back of the gauges. then just figure out which pin it is and you have your color.
my question is if you coulnd't figure out how to follow the wire of the back of the gauges, how are you doing an engine swap???? :flipoff2:
