I am doing some thinking about the street manners of my Zuk. I run YJ's and missing liinks up front and my zuk has had somewhat messy road manners since. I was thinking of getting a Panhard bar from Spidertrax but my other option is to go shackle reversal. The price is about the same and I could sell the missing links after too and make some back. Any thoughts and opinions on the Sumo S/R?

Edit: I am also going toyota axles at the same time too. I know you need a long travel front driveshaft also.

your going to have quite a bit of brake dive with the S/R. other then that everyone i have talked to said it made it more comfortable on the street.

You may need a new longer slip front shaft with the S/R. Not certain about that though. I have heard good things about the SUMO kit too.

I saw Tdavis's sumo kit, and he has some pictures of it up on this board. I can honestly saw that it is the worst looking construction I have seen from any of the bigger Suzuki vendors for a suspension product. I'm also waiting to see if that pinion angle is going to be correct on that kit. It sure looks dead wrong to me!

I built my own up by taking measurements off a solid axle '85 Toyota truck, and maybe $30 in metal. Maybe another $30 for my front bumper. (The sumo will not allow a bolt on bumper to work with it.)

The Sumo is said to be a copy of the Canyon States kit, I don't think so. I was not a big fan of the Canyon state kit, but it was built well, and well thought out design. The Sumo is not.

My advise would be to get that panhard, and check out your steering set up also. spring bushings may also be a problem. I'm guessing you are running the Trail Tough set up? Did you keep the straps on the springs?

Better yet, just build the shit. It isn't that hard once you start.. :) You might even enjoy it.

I'd figure you could build the panhard kit for less than $100 yourself. Figure
$60 for two good quality heims
$20 for tube
$20 brackets and bolts.
But then again there's time, might be cheaper to work a couple extra hours and just buy the kit. Spidertrax stuff is top notch, very precise, excellent work.

Yeah I gotta call brent he gonna help me figure out the M/L issues. I'm very happy with the construction and quality of the hardware from them and I probably got something F-ed up in my Zuk.

Since he's going Toy axles, brake dive shouldn't be an issue.

I have YJ's w/shackel reversal. I didn't like the road manners either so I made a panhard bar. Made it drive WAY better on the street. Practically seers like a sports car now. I disconect the panhard for the trail though because I have found mine to limit flex enough to matter.

IMHO, I would not due a shaclke reversal solely for handling. In that aspect, I don't think you see any noticeable improvement. If poor street manners is what you want to address, the PH bar is the way to go. BTW, I made mine for $80 or so. Got everything from Spidertrax.
