Knock_out 07-20-2010, 07:04 AM Hey my wife bought an 01 fronty crew 4x4 5spd, it gets amazing city mpg, but god awful highway mpg! I can figure out if its geared to low in the trans or in the differentials, in 5th gear I do 45mph at 2k rpm and around 2,500rpm i am at 50mph... it doesnt seem right to me, would make long trips disasterous on the wallet lol. boardbysled 07-20-2010, 01:18 PM Probably has 4.88's in the diffs. You could always trade me for my 4.63 gears :) Look at the driver side door jam for the axle code and it should be HG46 or HG49 or something like that. 46 is 4.63 gears and the 49 is 4.90 gears. The higher the number the lower the gears. Most of the 5sp V6s got the 4.38 gears i thought though and the autos got the 4.63s.
