I installed teh brake box last night. I have one question: the box has 4 wires white ( ground)black ( positive)blue (wire to trialer) red (wire to brake pedal)

I have all the wires hooked up, but I noticed the red wire that goes to the brake pedal gets hot to the touch, is that normal?

NO! That is not normal and should be unplugged now before you burn down the truck! Did you use the pigtail that came with the truck to plug into the factory harness under the dash?

I unhooked the main power wire as soon as I noticed the wire getting hot. It only did it when I engaged the brake box.

No, I did not plug it up to any kinda of existing hook up, I was not aware of one. I just ran the wires as they stated in the directions.

My truck has power pedals, if that makes any differance

What is the existing hook up you are referring too? and how do I go about getting the needed plug?

There's a plug under the dash that is for brake controllers. If you don't have the pigtail that plugs into it the dealer can supply you with one. The pigtail is labeled and you just connect the brake controller's wires to it and plug it in.

At the bottom of the dash board there is a female plug with nothing in it. It will be shaped like a rectangle, and it will have 6 pins in it. Ford, or any trailer supply outfit, will be able to get you the male part that plugs into it. You will also need a couple of relays to energize everything. Ford will be able to get you those.
