: Tube Fender Tube Size

I just bought a bender(jd2 model 3) and I want to make tube fenders to protect my TJ fenders from trail obstacles and my acidental oh-oh's. I am also fabbing some shock hoops for the front that the tube fenders will tie into and then they will all tie into my avalanche stinger.

What size tube would be a norm and still maintain strength? I was looking at either 1" x 120 wall or 1.25 x 120 wall, both are DOM Carbon Tube A513 Type 5. They are only a few cents difference in price. Is there much of a strength difference between 1" and 1.25"?

I got some cool ideas from searching but none provided tubing sizes and strength requirements.

I'd make them out of 1.75 or 1.5" tubing..no smaller. This is purely cosmetic though. Although, I bet 1" would bend rather easily if you layed it over with any force.

I'm sorry, I thought he said "TUBE" fenders, not "Pipe" fenders:flipoff2:

1.25 sched 80 is bigger than 1.25" tubing.;)
