On my rear 10 spline diff the carrier bearing bolts worked loose and caused a whine. I pulled out the third member..
1) The bearings and race looks/ spins fine.. Can I just tighten the carrier bolts down with some loctite and hit the road or do I have to worry about backlash being messed-up due to loose carrier bolts on just one side... I know nothing about backlash at this point...
I2) Is backlash only affected by pinion/ ring work or do side bearings and bolts affect it as well ?
either way I am putting it back together and going..I just want to know if the backlash is totally buggered up from the loose bolts on the cap or if I can atleast run #4, 5, 6 , ..(and 1 :flipoff2: )
Guardrail etc are out of the question until I am locked up.
Thanks -
