Ok i know this has been asked a billion times , but i didnt find a good answer when i did alot of searching. What do yall think of Pro Comps M/T compared to BFG's M/T and TSL's? I need a fairly cheap tire that will take the abuse at tellico but will also ride OK ont he road. I dont need it to ride like a lexus but i would like to hear the radio :D My brother has BFG's on his Cherokee and loves them but i was wondering if there is a cheaper tire out there that gives the same ride quality for a lower price? I checked out a couple of places to buy some of these tires and the lowest i could find was Summit. They have BFG's for $145 or so and have Pro Comps for $142. I also am going to get some AR767's or Black rockcralwers and summit had them for $38. Anyone know of a place cheaper to get any of these?? I wonder if Discount tire will beat these prices

Thanks guys!!!!!

I wouldn't trust the BFG's or Pro-comps for any major off road use. The TSL's are great off road, but ride like sh*t, and are really loud. on the way to Big Dog's last month, I got stuck in traffic and turned my CB on 19. Some trucker said "I'm gonna fall asleep listening to the hum of that Jeeps tires" which was pretty funny. Glad I kept my General MT's for the road :flipoff2:

check out the TrXus m/t it seems to be a good middle ground between the BFG and the TSL. Several guys on NAXJA.org love them, go search over there.

See if this works for ya (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1.jsp?startIndex=0&width=33X&ratio=12.5&diameter=15&search=true&pagelen=20&pagenum=1&pagemark=1&performance=ORMT&manufacturer=BFGoodrich&manufacturer=Bridgestone&manufacturer=General&manufacturer=Goodyear&manufacturer=Kumho&manufacturer=Yokohama)

If it doesn't work, go to tirerack.com. They've got good prices. They don't carry the only real off road tire out there though:D

pay the extra money and get the MT/R's (Goodyear in case you didn't know)

Best "all-around" tire out there, meets all your qulaifications. Exelent and tough off-road, good road manners, good wear.

You won't be sorry. Better than the BFG MT, better than the Pro-Crap.

Thanks guys! Yall have been a great help. I am now deciding to go the cheap way and get the Kumho Venture MT($96) OR to go the more expensive way and get the MT/R($146). I am more leaning toward the MT/R but an extra $200 would be nice to have. Anyone ever heard good or bad things about the Kumho Venture MT??

THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!!!:)

I like the sidewalls on the Pro-Comps better than the BFG - I've put too many holes in BFGs, the Pro-Comps are holding up better. When I get around to throwing a set of bead locks on, I'm getting MT/Rs.

I've heard that the Kumhos are great tires EXCEPT the sidewalls are pretty thin. So if the wheelin you do could tear a sidewall you might want to go with the MTRs, or just get a road hazzard deal and a spare.

Don't know what size your looking for, but the 31" TrXus by Interco run about $106. Better then the BFG MT offroad, fine on road, cheaper than MT/R.

That problem is soon to be solved for general sales and has already been solved for competitors running the BFG MT/km.

Do yall think the sidewalls on the Kumho Venture MT would be alright around here at places like Uwharrie and tellico? I will probably end up getting the MT/R though just because it is proven a good tire.

BTW: The General Grabber MT's are very good tires too, and are pretty damn tough. I did slice one a while back (Not at a mall, Mediumdude :flipoff2: ), which made me decide to get something more substantial for serious use. But as far as quality for the price, you can't beat the Grabbers. You'll get 40,000 miles out of a set too :D . I got my 35's for $90 each, brand new

TSL all the way, ive had a lot of tires, and the TSL seems to work the best from what Ive seen. But you could wait for the new BFG Krawler to come out, but its not a good choice if you drive on the road.:D

I am thinking about takeing the price list i got off of both these tires and see what discount tire will sell them to me for. How much are sidewalls an issue in the South East????

My buddy just ripped a hole in a brand new mt/km last weekend on Fordyce. Didn't take much to do it either. Are you saying that they are changing the tires that are being made in the future? My pro-comp sidewalls have held up really good, but like the sig says "they suck." They are chunking really badly. I would go MTR if you drive on the road. TSL if you have spare mouthpieces lying around.:flipoff2:

Does anybody have a picture of the MT/Rs mounted on there rig (possible a Land Cruiser)? I know what they look like but have never seen anything besides a rock buggy or the Rubicon wrangler with them on. ( And yes, I know i live a sheltered life :D )

Damn! Where'd you get those? Buddy of mine had a set and they weren't half bad. Best price I've found was $139 at tirerack.com. :)

I know you need em now but the ProComp is going to a new stickier "non-chunking" compound on everything 35" and up in the new year. Better sidewall, better rubber, tons of miles, great price, proven tread design...really, this will be a great tire.
I've been running their test rubber for a year now, no joke, it is good.
