me and my uncle found a 4 cylinder perkins diesel.the project is to put it in his scout 80.i know that a spicer 4 speed w/ OD will bolt right up to it but we are having trouble finding a small t-case to put behind it.but if anyone knows of any other tranny/t-case options please let me know.

define "small"

define "small"well the scout isnt exactly the longest vehicle out there.so when i say small i mean the tranny takes up 22"of space and then you have the d-shaft,which is wat,8"or more?
so i need a t-case small enough to fit in there and not put the rear d-shaft at an 80degree angle...am i making sense?

or if anyone knows of a 4wd tranny that will bolt up to the perkins with an adapter the problem will be solved. ive done research and found nothing.

We need more info.

What Spicer 4 speed w/ OD are you talking about? Spicer 3053A? (that's 5 speed from 2.5T)

I assume you want a divorced xfer case? Since you mention an 8" long driveshaft, I'll assume you have the Spicer 3053A.
Suzuki Samurai has a small divorced 'case. Low gears available for it, too. Good luck bolting it up the that Spicer
What axles are you going to use? Stock D27's?

Divorced 205 with the appropriate drop (pass/driver).

I have a ZF 5 speed/203/205 that's 48" long from bellhousing to output yoke in my '65 and my rear driveshaft is ~20" at ride height.

*edit* Well, at least you found the search button. Look like you are getting some feedback in the other threads you posted in and your thread on 4BTswaps.

Should be SAE#3 bolt pattern for the bellhousing.

No it's a 4 speed overdrive.4 is over and down, then 5 is up from there

What size perkins? Pretty sure the jeep put a perkins in the cj5 during the '60s. Believe it may have had the T90/dana 18? behind it.

not sure id have to ask my unc..all i know is its a 4 cylinder..
and do u really think those axles would snap with the whole 85hp the perkins puts out.

It's not just horsepower, it's torque, the weight the axles have to carry, tire size, etc.

it still dont have enough power(torque) to snap those axles.knowing my uncle,he wont go any bigger than 33's on that thing.he wants mpg's/OD tranny more than anything.he doesn't care about it being the best mudder.he wants something that he can drive around getting 40-50mpg and then go to a mud hole and have fun then drive home.u know what i mean?

and if *snap*becomes a problem we can always get some stonger axles
