: Rookie cop pulled me over
miguelitojeep 07-27-2010, 02:41 AM So its late, I work till around 1:35am and get pulled over by some cop. Im sure he was really hoping I was drunk or high or something, but nope, I just smell like burgers and am stressed out. After about 20 minutes of writing all of one fix it ticket for not having mud flaps, man those things must be difficult to write :flipoff2: , I am on my way. Get home and crack a beer :smokin: . 15 minutes later we get a knock on the door. "Hey Mike? hi we just pulled you over a little bit ago... uh... we gave you the wrong copy of the ticket." :homer:
so anyone know a police officer that will write this off for me? :D
he actually wrote the ticket wrong, says on the ticket I have a 2003 Jeep, which I don't. I thought the ticket had to be exactly correct or else its voided?
maybe not, I guess its time for some ghetto fenders now
Jeepman14wheel 07-27-2010, 08:57 AM That sucks, remember the time you drove my jeep back from CC. We got lucky that day when those 4 highway patrols passed us and my Jeep had no fenders, no mirrors, no plates and no insurance! :shaking:
cj7sswampers 07-27-2010, 10:23 AM Drivin like a retard eh?
miguelitojeep 07-27-2010, 10:30 AM Drivin like a retard eh?
and who are you talking about?
Jeepman14wheel 07-27-2010, 10:48 AM and who are you talking about?
Yeah, who are you taking about? :flipoff2:
hurleygo3 07-27-2010, 11:23 AM Why the hell did you answer the door?
Just make a set of removable mud flaps and be on your way.
JaysinDesignz 07-27-2010, 01:01 PM I got out of a ticket that was written & there was 3 sections to the code. Well he wrote it for the wrong one & I got out of the ticket.
But, I don't think the year of the Jeep will dismiss the ticket.

actually my roommate did. But they were shining lights in our apartment and stuff too.
I just put my stock flares on and prob buy some cheapo mud flaps. Thing is, I have to have another cop sign off on it. Anyone know and jeep friendly cops? And does anyone know if I have to have the fronts covered as well or if its just the rears? I kinda thinking just the rears need to have full flares and flaps

x's 2!
I keep a set rolled up under my seats just in case. However I don't do too much pavement with my rig...other than heading for the trails, and some pavement up in Big Bear. Hadn't been stopped yet...just a matter of time.

I made mine out of a Vautozone replacement floor mat, for the back seat of a crew-cab, then cut in 1/2 to make up the two sides. Mounted them on a piece of square tubing and use a bolt to pin them on...SIMPLE
Note: Being that the rubber mat is so flimsy, I used a small piece of angle iron to sandwich the rubber and used large self tapping screws, but pre-drilled the angle iron a size larger than the screws for a snug fit.
miguelitojeep 07-27-2010, 04:57 PM nice, yea thats probably what I will be doing. I found some cheap 20x18 inch mud flaps at Grainger that ill probably pick up and cut to fit. Something like $23 so no big deal. Hopefully I dont get pulled over again tonight.
CJ'Ed 07-27-2010, 11:56 PM The ticket will be voided. You would have to go through the court process so the judge can see the ticket and void it. Had that happen to me a few times . If you have to miss work for court then it would be cheaper to make mud flaps and get it written off.
miguelitojeep 07-28-2010, 01:46 AM I put the old flares on and they really do cover a lot more than without.

Im gonna put some detachable mud flaps on tmr and then have my ex girlfriends cousin (officer) write it off for me. Should all work out well.
jsmith7364 07-31-2010, 10:37 PM California law states that just rear has to be covered. Fronts are fine without.
Quik 99 08-01-2010, 09:50 AM Mike I have a set of mud flaps that I made for my jeep, I have had to use them a few times and they work greatfor fix it tickets . Two bolts and they hook up.
Seabass 08-06-2010, 05:02 PM My last ticket had the wrong city, wrong speed limit and I'm pretty sure I wasn't doing 65+ uphill in a residential at 2am in my beater on a holiday weekend. Still stuck in court when I tried to fight it:(
Obstructionofjustice 08-19-2010, 09:50 AM And you got a rookie! They do everything by the book. Had my car inpounded once and the cop later tells me that he normaly wouldn't of but that there was a rookie there so they had to show him what to do. Fawk you!
My best friend brother in law is a CHP officer.....DICK.
And I know not all cops are like this but some of them get a hard on when they put that uniform on.
mikegyver1 08-24-2010, 08:21 PM I have a friend that is a cop. (he won't sign off tickets unless there fixed, so in other words he doesn't):flipoff2: He did tell me that if you deside to fight the ticket Jeep wranglers are considered a passenger car and do not require mud flaps (that's why they aren't factory equipped) good luck in court. Should we run mud flaps??? most likely..
miguelitojeep 08-24-2010, 08:31 PM built some pretty cool removable flaps, i'll have to snap some pics. My welds held up to some Rubicon boulders too. I think I should be ok for a while.

if you do take it to court (which is a waste of a day). You can beat it easy, your right it has to be the correct ticket for the correct jeep. That's why they ask for the reg. and License. You can go to the judge and say your honor the ticket was for a 2003 jeep I have a ______ jeep. He'll just throw it out.
