Didn't know which forum to put it in, so I'm posting it in here. My '93 YJ is my DD, but I was wondering if it was legal to go SOA in VA. I heard that it is not a matter of passing inspection, because they don't have that law to enforce, but the state police do have the law, and if they notice it they can ticket you. Is any of this true? If so, how much $ for the ticket? Thanks

A guy I know in town here (Charlottesville) has a YJ that he's SOA'd and it's up on 36" TSLs. So far as I know the only problem he's ever had with it legally was for a while his front bumper height was above the legal inspection limit, but he got that taken care of. I know inspection wise you're not supposed to modify the suspension beyond a certain point (hehe, even my poser IFS SUV technically fails due to suspension and swaybar mods.)
Forgot to say--in my experience no one ever enforces the suspension part of the inspection process
I say go for it! :D

i guess i could have told yall what the cops have been telling me
Jeep lift law 22 inches from ground to bottom of bumber or if bumper is lowered to the frame
Truck laws 28
tires can stick out 3 inches without flares or markers
cops didn't say anything about the jeep law they ticketed me by the truck laws i am 4 1/2 inches illegal.
if i put on small tires or lowered it i could fight the ticket but :flipoff2: that
