I was just looking at the engine for the new chevy trailblazer's. It is an I6 with 275 hp at 6000 rpm's and 275 lbs torque at 3500 rpm's. I haven't looked into it to much but thinking that it is a I6 just like what is in it already it might be an easy swap. Has anyone thought about using this new engine. Again this was just a quick thought.

Doesn't the front axle go through the oil pan on that? Might need a custom clearanced oil pan for that swap...

Actually the thought crossed my mind, but I already have an 8. I think that I read it has an aluminun block. Major weight savings.

Thought about it.

My girlfriend has that engine in her new Bravada. They pretty much scream (for an inline-6 anyhoo) and have a lot of torque. Great mileage too for the amount of power it makes. It'd make a perfect Jeep engine.

The oil pan IS connected to the center section of the IFS though... Major PITA to put it in a different vehicle, I'd imagine.

Funny how Jeep (well, D/C anyhow) is abandoning this engine design in favor of V-6s and now GM is using it successfully. BMWs have had awesome inline-6s for years. It's the most torque-efficient engine design, that's why all big rigs have inline 6s.
