I am looking to pickup a '73 K10 for a good price. The problem I see is this truck has a '77 body. Does anyone Know where the vin is on the frame of a '73 to '87 truck. I am stumped and I don't want to loose the chance to become smog exempt.
Thanx

Not at all positive on this, but check the driver's side frame rail, on the outside, under the door.
What does the title say?

title says '73 but the body vin tags (that don't match the title) say '77. It has the old style 6-lug d44 with flat knuckles and the top mounted tierod. But it also has 14 bolt rear (front to rear ratio also differs).
I think the whole thing is a peicemeal but the '73 frame is the inportant part.

not positive but think the # is on top of the frame rail near the rear spring hanger. At least thats where it is on my 85.I have to go down the street to check my 73.

I found one on my buddies blazer under the drivers door on the outer frame rail. The only problem is all of the trucks I am looking at all have dual tanks making both of these places hard to see without taking the whole vehicle apart. There is suposed to be 8 seprate locations so it is possible to find one I can see on a complete truck. :( :( :(

My 74 frame has the VIN on the left frame rail on the top of the "c" by the steering box.

Can you see that from the top?

for some reason on the '73 there is no vin under the door. There is a frame brace welded in for the steering box. I crawled all over the frame in that area and have seen nothing.
If anyone has seen uny other locations I just need one I can see.
