Greetings all. I have a line on a couple of FJ40 axles that came off of a 77 canadian FJ40. The owner tells me that both axles are drum brakes and that they are the course spline axles. From what I know about FJ40's is that disc brakes were put on in 1976 and the fine (30) spline axles started in 1970. Did Canadian rigs come with different axles in them than our American rigs. Are the 3rd members set up the same minus the spider gears for the end splines. Are the brake lines the same as the U.S. models as far as having the fine threaded lines. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.:confused:

as far as Europe is concerned, pre-76 had coarse spline birfs. (small bearings), pre-81 drums up front (2 cyl. type) and post 75 at least have fine spine rear shafts. My undestanding is that toyota switched all the shafts, birfields, bearing, etc at the same time for the world, while still selling different equipment depending on the country...

well, I think BJ45s still had drums front until the end of the production...
