I've got a Quadrajet 4MV and I'm trying to go from the number on the side of the carb to a cfm number.

Is this possible? Anyone know a reference online or otherwise?

I've got one book called "Rochester Carburetors" by Doug Roe that is interesting but doesn't provide what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance,
John

about 90% of the q-jets are somewhere around the 650 cfm in flow depending on the jet size. The numbers on the side of the carb are the reference numbers usually for what kit it will take to overhaul the carb, part of the number will identify the year and give you a general idea what it may have come off of.

So, what you are saying is a Quadrajet will work on any vehicle that it can fit if it is re-jeted/metered(aside from various vacumn ports)?

the 4mv q-jet is 750 cfm. They only came in 750 and 800(all the chevy ones are 750) They will work on just about anything they will fit though. The main thing to think about there is what kind of choke it has (divorced, exhaust heated, or electric) The way a q-jet works, it only flows what the engine needs and no more.
