I just heard tonight that the Badlands in Attica IN was closing effective Jan. 2003. This is probably just a rumor but do any of you guys have any info. I was told that it was due increased insurance rates.

As of about 5pm yesterday.... I was asked if I was coming back next year by Troy's wife. Troy never made any comments about it to us either.

i talked to them today....... no mention of that to me..... sure hope not

I hope it is a rumor too since I was planning on trying to make it up there next year when the Jeep was more capable of the harder trails.

Man I hope not, that the nearest and best place I wheel at.

If the rumor is true we'll have to see if a bunch of people can pitch in to help out with the insurance, cause I bet it ain't cheap.

I talked with Missy back in September about a Winter run and she mentioned nothing about closing?! It was said that they are in the process of trying to add a small campground on the property, hopefully to be open by early spring. Troy's major insurance woes come from the Quads, not the rigs. Badlands has already had to ammend their rules a few times in reguards to quads and bikes in the last 2 years. let's hope all is well in Attica, cause that is a great place to wheel!!!

Thanks for the posts guys. I know that it was aboutt the quads. It wasnt about the rigs. Like I said that is what I heard. My buddy had just been up there that weekend and he said that they would be closed in January with limited winter dates? But you "hear" everything.....

If anyone has anything else post up.....If it closes I dont know where the hell I will go.... Oh wait have to get the Heep running for more than two days!

It is TOTALLY bogus. Friggin rumor mills and the innocent people that propagate them.

The Badlands is NOT closing, well except Thanksgiving and Christmas! Not planning to limit the bikes and quads anymore than they are now. Insurance (you sign a waiver) is not an issue.

I was there a couple of hours ago (lots of wheelers there today) and Troy has been laying out his planned improvements to the trails, which he performs during the off season. Look for more challenges in 2003!

I also saw the progress on the new campgrounds office building. They are using property just outside the gates to house the campers. Very convenient!

Every time I go there, (10 times in October alone) something is new or changed. Just in case you wonder how I know this stuff, I am a regular, a member of Team Badlands Offroad, and Troy has my cell number to call whenever bogus posts are made here!
