I'm currently stationed on pendleton trying to find a good place to take my truck mudding. Not a big fan of sand so i was thinking Azusa Canyon any more ideas i should try?:confused:

the only place that i know of is Ocatillo well. when it rains out there, there are a couple of good pits (no more then 2 or 3 feet deep tho) and there is a hot lap that you can do around the perimiter of the airfeild out there that is pretty fun when its wet.

other than that i cant think of any.

Yeah, Azusa is pretty small right now. After they open the upper dam to fill the lower res. it will be alot bigger and there will actually be mud there. I was there a few weekends ago and it was pretty much puddles of water on a sand base

thats why i said "when it rains out there" so no there wont be any mud right now.

Man your on Pendelton. They don have any areas you guys can wheel on base? Everytime I pass by on the 5. I look at the tank trails & imagine what a killer race they could have on base. The river on the north end should have mub up somewhere.

No wheelin on base unfortuneately, I did research on it when i first got here and it states we can only operate personal owned vehicles on maintained roads, fire breaks and dirt trails are not counted as maintained. :(

Camp Pendleton is a fishbowl. Every stinking tree hugger and flower sniffer is watching everything that happens on the base and filing compaints for the damn birds, lizards, or bunny eared rat.

We used to have tanks, amtracks, lavs and other type vehicles all permanently on pendleton. A lot of those have moved to 29 palms becuase of the lawsuits and such making the training areas unusable.

You can't train for war worrying about the damn tree huggers and flower sniffers. It in the end, causes a loss of life.

But, do you agree how awesome of a race they could have on base. Everything from mountains, valleys & beach to race on. Just on the tank trails alone looks like a challenging race for 2wd race trucks.

I agree that it would be a good thing. But after 21 years in the grunts and the last 5 in the G3 shop working with plans and training. I doubt it will ever happen. Just the legalities and liability alone would be a nightmare. I helped plan the first two Rock & Roll Marathons that used MCRD and it was a freakin nightmare. I can't imagine the problems that this would cause and the lawsuits.

Now you can surely do this at 29 Palms, but not at Camp Pendleton.
