: 2.8 adapter plate??
rockzilla 10-25-2002, 08:42 PM ok, i know im gonna catch hell for this one, but im thinking of swaping in a chevy 2.8. the only reason is that i have a 87 s10 blazer sitting here that i cant even sell for $400! the moter is great, and that would let me get some parts for power steering too!! the moter is EFI and the blazer is 4wd so id have front diff and a tcase that i could sell later. ive heard about an adapter plate that bolts this engine to the zuki tranny. ive been searching but i cant find out who makes the adapter plate?? if i do this it will most likely be next winter, im just trying to get some info together. and to dicide if i still want to sell the blazer or just hold onto it. CYA!!
OK , FLAME ON!!!!!!!!!:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
rotozuk 10-25-2002, 10:58 PM Being an owner of a vehicle with the same 2.8 engine, It is no surprise no one wants to buy the turd from you.
It's a so-so choice for the Samurai. since you said it was fuel injected, I'm guessing this was one of the later model engines, they are much better then earlier versions (different crank) and do tend to have a very long life span. I'd guess 200,000 miles or so. But the suckers will eat gas, not produce much power, and leak oil for all of those miles.
I am not aware of an adapter plate for this engine to Zuk tranny. The only adpater plates for the Zuk tranny I know of are the VW 4 bangers, and Suzuki 1600s. Pretty much everything else puts out to much power to consider making an adapter.

mud-magnet 10-26-2002, 02:54 AM the adapter plate was most likly the one me and zukimoo were going to get, it was a custom made adapter that a friend of zukimoo's had already done, so we both liked the idea and were going to do it, but that guy who swaped it in got it all done and had bed vibs, over heated alot, and the clutc kept burnning out of it......and that was the last i heard about his swap....... pm zukimoo for more info, but i'm pretty sure he isn't planning on doing the swap either

he he he, newbies............:flipoff2:
rockzilla 10-26-2002, 04:52 PM well, overheating and burning up clutches is not quite my idea of a good time, ill prolly just go with a 1.6 then, thanks CYA!!
zukimoo 10-27-2002, 09:02 AM if you want a 2.8 to the zuk tranny, you got to back up the t ranny about 3", cut the front clip to put in the bigger rad to avoid the overheating and the clutch thing....the retard that drives the zuk can't drive so it MIGHT last to the right driver
as for the vibs, he's got them all out but it cost him alot of $$$ to get it done right.
Its got lots of torque but not much speed..he revs at about 4000 RPM's at 80km/h or 50mph, (he's running stock everything on 31's) and we all know a 2.8 isn't a reving engine.......
overall he wouldn't do it again....he's trying to sell the whole setup for 2000$ (RETARD) and now he want to put one of those strong Honda engine........$$$$$$$$ and more $$$$$
good luck..............
rockzilla 10-28-2002, 08:00 PM well, looks like ill just wait till i can afford a 1.6 and swap that in, thanks for the info. but just out of curiosity, if that guy were to build another adapter plate, how much $$$ would it be??
Slowzuki 10-29-2002, 08:17 AM He'll have a lot of fun with the Honda since it turns BACKWARDS! Unless he gets and S2000 motor!

SilverZuk 11-01-2002, 01:23 PM What's up RockZilla, you fawkin newbie:flipoff2:
When you finally going to get up this way to wheel with us?
Did you see the pics from last weekend, the Ohio taco crew came down and had a blast.
Unrelated to the chevy 2.8, there's a guy selling 2.8 and 2.9 Ford conversions for Zuks. But you have to swap in a Ford C-4 tranny with it. Seams like an easy swap. The ford motor and tranny are good and it would be nice to have an auto at times, especially when you don't have a 6:1 t-case.
My 1.3 is still live and kickin strong.
I'm going to run it till it blows up.
