Done the search, nada.

So does anyone have photos of a cage or roll bar inside a Bronco II? I have a frantic mother that wants a cage in her sons Bronco II, I am just looking for ideas.

Any that are on the market? Otherwise I will start from scratch on the JD4, 1.5" .120" wall DOM 4130 sound right?

Thanks fellas

4130 is a PITA. I'd go 1.5" or 1.75 x .120 HREW. You can spend the extra on DOM, but is it going to get rolled at 175 mph?

Jegs has one for the Rangers, but it should work fine as long as you don't need the rear seats anymore. I don't know if it could be made to work so the rear seats could be used or not. They run $200 for a 10 point kit. You still would have to weld it up, but at least the tubing is bent and notched.

Thanks guys, I don't think the kid will roll it going 175MPH.. more like 0-90 should do it. The mother is asking for the best built cage, so 4130 it the ticket. The hydo. bender will chew through it just fine, its the band saw that takes a beating!

I will take a look at the Jegs sugestion.

Thanks again!

The Jegs suggestion may be a good idea. If you decide not to go that route, keep this in mind, before you go and buy a bunch of 4130. The reason racers use 4130 is weight, not strength. It's light. It's also expensive. 4130 is also brittle, compared to mild steel and will break, rather than bend under severe stress. Welding 4130 is more difficult than mild steel. The metal being welded has to be very clean, or a weld will be weak. Air movement, during welding will weaken the weld.
1.75"x.120" mild steel will pass an NHRA tech inspection.

Have fun, with your cage building!
