I just brought a aluminum diamond plated chest from Home Depot. It has the Husky label and it is 61" long. It fits in the back of my fullsize Bronco. I need one to store my tools etc.
But so I can open the tailgate it has to rest on 2 2x4's at 90 degrees. But what I am concerned about is if I got rear ended, it could get thrown forward. I do not want to bolt it down because I will have to remove it to transport deer, or lumber etc. But I have thought of bolting down a track, and bolt domed top bolts upside down at the bottom of the chest. Any ideas, I'd appreciate any advice.

I just need suggestions, it doesn't have to be quick release all it has to do is keep it locked down so it doesn't go forward inside the truck.

bolt it down and use wingnuts for easy removal

How about using some eyelets that bolt on, and just using some good tie downs. Put the eyelets on the box and in the floor. That way the box is removable, and you can use the eyelets in the floor to secure other things.

oh, and it would fly forward in a head-on, not being rear-ended. or any other time you come to a quick stop.

a guy at my school died a few years ago because he hit a tree, and would have been fine, but a boombox in the back seat flew and hit him in the back of the head.

take this kind of thing seriously

That thing needs to be anchored with some big shit if it is going to be inside the truck with you. On a regular truck you have the front of the bed and the back of the cab between you and it.

I had a little tool box tucked in behind the rear seat of a samurai. I didn't think there was anyway it could get out. Somewhere in the middle of flipping 4 times, it got out! I got the shit beat out of me......and it was smal and damn near empty. That big box you are talking about would be deadly real quick.

Safe is better than quick.
