The 727 is roughly 1' shorter than the AX-15. The first issue I encountered was, after the initial installation, I had a mechanical floor shifter ordered, wrong answer!!! After I FABBED a mount on the top of the tranny to hold the 4 X4 shifter, there wasn't room for the mechanical shifter(thus ordered cable type)! While the shifter was in the mail, I worked on the rear tranny mount. I used the stock skid, then the stock mounting bracket was modified. I used a piece of 2" square tube about 3 1/8" long. the mounting holes on the 727 are 2 3/4" Center to center, these where drilled into one side of the square tube. The tube was bolted on to the 727 then welded (standing on head guzzling beverages) to the stock mounting bracket off the AX-15(This was all done with the skid and stock AX-15 mount bolted in place). After the tranny cooler lines and cooler were mounted, initial startup was startling!!! The starter didn't reach far enough into the flywheel to engage, I had to get the above mentioned starter to get it rolling, also GET the bellhousing shield with your Auto tranny, I used my stock shield and the converter bolts rubbed for a few minutes, till the GROOVE was deep enough!!! The rear driveline was lenghtened 2" and the front was Shortened 2". A few details not overlooked, the stock 231 doesn't reach into the 727 far enough to reach the seal, just plug the hole in the mate area with some sealant along with the mounting surface of the 231. The seal in the front of the 231 is a two way seal and will not leak fluid past!!! Doesn't appear to be any front driveshaft clearance issues with the tranny pan!!!

I can post some digital pics on Monday if anyone requests photo's of anything!

For you obligated newbie scorchers, I am posting this NOT TO BRAG THAT I DID IT, but to help out the idiots like myself that needed 10 posts to get all my questions answered!!! Search Keywords one more time=== TF727 Swap AX-15 Replacement Coors Light
