: 37's on TJ with minimal lift?

I'm curious about running 37's on a TJ with very little lift. Can enough metal be trimmed from the rear wheel openings to stuff 37's? I know the front is easier, especially with a glass hood/fender combo. Has anyone done something like this, if so, how much lift do you have?
Thanks.

Some guy on Rockcrawler.com took an '01, 3" body lift, and a sawzall. When he was done, he had 44" Ground Hawgs on it I believe. He did extensive body work on it and it looked very clean, but WAY too much tire. Try searching on their forum.

37"MT/Rs, 4" Skyjacker coils (3/4" spacer of front that compensatef for winch and crap), Tera long lowers, short front uppers, long rear uppers, 1" BL. The COG is pretty good, but for some of the rock-crawling around here, I would like an extra inch every once in a while.

Fender is cut under the hood line, but retained factory inner fenderwell. I get a slight kiss of a rub at the back of the fender well, but probably would not with longer uppers.

Rear is cut to about 4" down from the tub, but required about 3" of the lower fender (where it joins to the rocker) to be cut. This was the major difference. It will clear for the road, but any articulation causes the tire to rub against the rockers. If you extend your wheelbase, it wouln't be a problem.

This was right after I torched it off, so it's a bit cleaner now. :D

I run the 37 MT/R's with minimal trimming and most of that being the rear of the back fenderwell opening.

RockKrawler 5.5 springs in the front with RS 9012's and custom coils in the rear with RS9005's.

I didn't like the rub at the back of the front well so I pushed the axle forward and relocated the track bar mount at the frame as part of my higher steering. I have no trimming in the front and reasonable length bumpstops. The tires will stuff and turn the fender lip outwards on hard downhill turns.

My body lift is 1.25 and the overall lift is the same as PC springs and a .75 winch spacer. It is not a big jeep. My track is narrower than it was before due to the 5 on 5.5 hub conversion. I had the small conversion before and that spaces everything on the front out almost 2 inches wider. I have plenty of droop also. For my needs anyway.

Here is a link to a pic of an obstacle on Sledge. Fairly interesting, but I did make it.

do you want to run the 37's for the look or functionality? If for the look, probably a 4inch lift with trimmin would work, or just cut up on you rears, flatfender the front, but you minimal in rear due to the gas tank cap, function- run 35's til you can get the nutz to do some seriour trimmin', i stretched my rear axle back so all my rear came off. good luck with your project anyways.

For function, always for function. I want to retain the good characteristics of the TJ's suspension, but have axle and breakover clearance.
CrawlinTJ, are you using bumpstop extensions in the rear?

I'm running 37s with a 4.5" spring in the rear and a 5.5" spring up front. 1" body lift and a squirt of trimming here and there.

I am fairly wide, with 63.5" wide axles and 10" rims with 3 5/8" back spacing, so the tires stick out fairly far.

I run Teraflex's 4" bumpstops. But I don't use them because my POS Teraflex longarms hit the frame rails before full stuff.

I'm running the RE 6" LA , W/ 1" BL and have heaps of room for my 36"ers. I belive that I could easily fit 37's and smaller 38's. Just need better axles 1st.:(
