My XJ died on me tonight for no reason. I was drivng along at 60-65 amd the engine cuts out. I pull off to the side and checked everything under the hood and nothing is visually wrong. No fluids leaking, no wires disconnected, no loose connection. I have no idea what happened. Tommorow I am going to check the fuel pressure on the rail. The fuel pump should be fine since it was replaced by a brand new Jeep unit a few years ago. I was not able to check for spark either. I don't have any extra plugs with me at the time. I'm going to try to get another one from the place I'm staying at. Any other suggestions on what might have caused this? The temp was 35-40 deg and I had been driving for an hour with no problems what so ever. I have never had a problem like this ever and neither has my father which had it for 8 yrs before I got it. Help!!
I need to get this fixed very soon. It's sitting in a ditch right now and I need to get it 60+ miles back to where I'm living at and I need it to get to school.
Specs: 89 XJ, 4.0l, Auto, stock engine.
