hey guy was at a pull a part the other day and found a xj that had a 4 cylindor diesel motor in it can any one tell me a little about that

Most likely a 4 cyl 2.1 Renault Turbo Diesel. Available in the U.S. and Canada throughout the 80's i think. Sold in Europe thru '94, then replaced by a piece of shit 2.5 TD from italian VM..
87hp.. can get at least 33mpg stock.. Too weak for the XJ really but does allright for a DD.

I got one in my garage right now, getting major rust surgery.
