: Would anyone be interested in these?
StinkBug 08-24-2010, 01:57 PM I fabbed up these paper towel holders a couple weeks ago because I was pissed about the cheezy plastic one in my kitchen breaking, and not holding the roll very well even before it broke. I wasn't really thinkin about selling them, but a couple people have expressed interest, so I figured I'd see if there was enough interest to do a run.
These were made out of 16ga steel, with the bar being made out of electrical conduit, with a hitch pin at each end to keep it retained.
I'm thinkin price would be around $20 plus shipping.
Think you'd be interested? Any comments or suggestions?
Dan DuBose 08-24-2010, 02:19 PM Dallas... that is cool. If I needed one right now I would buy a couple. I could make one myself, but for 20 bucks dang thats cheap. Thumbs Up...!!!
ky scrambled 08-24-2010, 02:25 PM I wonder what the GF would think about me putting one in the kitchen? haha
StinkBug 08-24-2010, 03:00 PM My GF's only complaint was that I hung it in a spot too high for her to reach the pin on the back side, so I get to be the one to change the roll.
Dan, it's not something that's super difficult to make, which is why I wasn't sure about doin a production run. People around here are pretty skilled. I need to be able to make a little bit on the deal, but also realize that we're talkin about something to hold paper towels here, it's just not something that you wanna be spending a bunch of money on.
I think its a good price for a cool towel holder.
hurleygo3 08-24-2010, 03:31 PM Nice for the shop, but there is no way in hell the wife would let that in the house:D

idea for improvement?
instead of a pin notch the bar all the way around. this way she doesn't have to fuss with a pin and merely lifts the rod and slides it out. the notch will catch just by sliding the bar in. :D
for vertical mounting though you may want to keep the pin as an option.

vertical mount is simple, weld a washer larger than the the hole on the bottom side of the conduit, to remove the conduit, lift it up and out.....
datz510 08-24-2010, 05:15 PM Nice! I'd buy two of them. One for kitchen, one for garage. :)

StinkBug 08-25-2010, 10:43 AM Well it seems there's more than enough interest in these, more than I expected really. I'm gonna start punching some out today, and I already ordered up the pieces I dont have in stock so these should be ready to ship by the end of the week. I'll be putting up an official vendor post later today.
Thanks a lot everyone.
KyleQ 08-25-2010, 11:07 AM Great - looking forward to making a purchase :D
rugburn 08-25-2010, 12:32 PM Just a thought that came from my coworker who I shared this link with....perhaps the two holes on the holder arms could be dimpled in the opposite direction so as to not tear the towel..
Just a thought Dallas
StinkBug 08-25-2010, 02:14 PM Someone mentioned that in the other thread. I haven't had any issue with towels tearing at all, even with them mounted vertically an having the roll actually sitting on the inward dimple. No reason I couldn't dimple them the other way if people want it though.
StinkBug 08-25-2010, 03:11 PM Ok guys, these are officially for sale now!
