they're in the same league as a D44.

I know quite a few people at least wanting them in the rear of their Jeeps, mostly because they offer GREAT ground clearance, and have the strength of the 44. Not to mention the factory electric locker, and a choice of deep gear ratios. If I hadn't gotten my rear axle so cheap, I think Id have gone for a yota rear.

Damn, have you forgotten where your at? this is the home off: 60606060606060606060.... anyway they are good axles but not for the hardest of hardcore:rolleyes: , for $400 I say get it but check the frame good, these have a big problem of rusting around here. The frames are pretty thin:( but hey it's a light ass truck!

K-dog I was just joking... I didn't say everyone was running them, just most DO want to run them, I looked for a year before I found a good deal on a 1-ton Chevy truck to buy for mine:D. Anyway this thread is about toy axles, these have just as many pro's / con's as a Dana 44. I like them and they are cheap, sure the birfields suck, just like the stock 44 shafts, they need to be replaced when going "extreme" anyway. For this truck to be his wife's first rig I think you can't beat it.

Ahh I understand. Heck Id like to have a 60/14 combo, but I realize that my cash flow is now good enough, and maybe Im just jealous of those of you that can afford it :D

No, they have been the chit for a while now.
If you install Longfields ($250 for pair) they are comparable to a dana 44 with warn shafts and CTM joints.

My opinion is. If you want to spend a sensable amount of money with little breakage and still be able to do EXTREME rock crawling, go with Toyota axles.

Our little toyota axles seem to kick your ass..........:flipoff2:

Actually, with all of the work we have been doing on them we seem to have the Toy axles dialed. I am not saying they will hang behind a big block or anything, but with ARBs, chromo axles, high steer, and super birfs I have had zero breakage after 5 hammers trips and every other weekend on AZs toughest stuff, including Asylum,Anaconda, and other un-named, brutal stuff. That is with running 38.5x14.50 SXs and 223:1 behind a 22RE in a 3200 lb. rig. Stuff will always break, but I think we have gotton it to a tolerable level.
Un-gusseted housings will bend if you are fully getting it.
I think they have become a viable rock crawling axle for the newer light weight, 4cyl rock rigs.

The Toy housings are good for what they are, but you have to remember you're dealing with a ring gear less than 8" in diameter, so you have to really be careful on your ratios to keep enough pinion teeth. 4.10's (41/10) for example are very durable considering the size of the things. 4.37's OTOH (35/8) are only marginally better than D30 stuff. The axles are definitely comparable to D44 (almost identical in size), but that won't do you much good if you're blowing the R&P. For my application, the clearance is worth it for the downside of running marginal gears.

Why spend money on a 'toy' rear when you can have a disc break 8.8 for the same amount and it will be stronger then a D44...

why? well, for one, the Toy has far better clearance, they are cheaper than an 8.8 and you can get a 4.56 third member with an electric locker from the factory.

I wish I had the time and money to go this route, but instead just bought a d44

dont forget semi float axles, drop out 3rd member, easy to shave and weld to, availability of more variety of lockers and chomo axles.

Now your smokin crack, I'd take a toy rear over the 8.8 anyday, no C-clip either:flipoff2:
