Hey...I am rodoing a bunch of stuff on this Ftoy that I bought.
Front and rear shafts are both square tube.
Front....I can live with that. I can unlock the hubs and peel out.
The rear...I can't deal with that. First off...no need. The slip is not that much, so I see no reason. Also, it vibrates so much the rear diff bolts loosen up :shaking:
Here are my questions:
1) It is 44" from flange to flange on my Ftoy. Is there a stock rear shaft that I can get and it will bolt up?
1a) If so, anyone have one I can buy?
2) This one has a CV on the Tcase in the rear. From what I remember, Toyota trucks are non CV top and bottom. Do I need a CV? Seems like the angles are good where I don't.
2a) Will the non-CV joint bolt to the same flange as the CV joint?
3) Front Dshaft.....what is everyone using here if they are not using a square shaft? I will probably keep the square shaft, but if I end up keeping the buggy, I will replace it.
Here are some pics of the hood bars going in....skins are going on next week.

You bought an f-toy too? Dang I guess a guy can never have too many rigs. Sorry can't help with your driveshaft question.....I am wanting to see the answers though since I am about to figure out driveshafts on my toyota truck......

You do not need a CV rear driveshaft. Some people put them in to be able to rotate the rear axle and point the pinion at the t-case. Just to get it up a little higher. If you get the angles right a non-cv toyota driveshaft can actually rotate at steeper angles.

Toyota has a few different flange patterns and the CV came with two of them, and non-cv shafts do come in those two patterns.
Finding a 44" stock non-cv shaft will be fun. Most people retube them for the dual-tcases, so stock driveshafts are probably longer.

Longer is better...I have found that local DS builders have a problem finding the right size driveshaft tube sometimes for a Toyota.
So, can the Tcase flange be redrilled for a stock, non-cv shaft?
I just land a stock rear driveshaft and cut it down?

1) It is 44" from flange to flange on my Ftoy. Is there a stock rear shaft that I can get and it will bolt up? I'm doubting that's a common stock shaft length--that seems fairly long. Maybe a 2nd gen longbed. 3rd gen xtracabs (and I think 3rd gen longbeds) all had 2-piece rear drivelines.
1a) If so, anyone have one I can buy? I have a pile of drivelines you can retube--but none that length.
2) This one has a CV on the Tcase in the rear. From what I remember, Toyota trucks are non CV top and bottom. Do I need a CV? Seems like the angles are good where I don't. toymaniac said it--only if you point your rear pinion at the t-case
2a) Will the non-CV joint bolt to the same flange as the CV joint? Yes, but you do have to (and can) redrill it. It's hard going the other way, though, as the CV joints have a wider hole pattern, and you hit the edge of a non-CV flange.
3) Front Dshaft.....what is everyone using here if they are not using a square shaft? I will probably keep the square shaft, but if I end up keeping the buggy, I will replace it. High Angle that used to be on my Runner...retubed it.
2.5" Sch80 is about .180 wall, and the right ID for Toy ujoint yokes.

You should keep it.
I have plenty of DS and have a buddy who drives to Columbus eveyday if that's close to you.

Nolen Try 3" 209 wall it fits right on the Toy journal - or 2 3/4 .188 wall and machine journals to 2.375 - Jess

Buy a long spline kit from Trail Gear or one of the other vendors and get Jason at Truck Parts Specialist in Memphis to build it. I wouldn't even try a stock driveshaft as the tube is way too thin and the spline is too short. I've had Jason build several sets of shafts and there is no comparison to the many other homebuilt shafts that I've seen/used.
