The scenery was fantastic. Those of you without a volcano in your backyard really need to get one. I will post some more pics after I reset everything.

The processor turned everything gray blue in that picture. Ricks rig is gray. So, I turned down the hue to get rid of the blue.

Harvester of Sorrow 10-28-2002, 03:08 PM Wish I was there...my family came to Redmond to visit and had to stay around to entertain.
The funny thing is that it was not all that great of a visit, especially when I see how nice it was on the trail!

It was a great day to be out. Might be the last *dry* wheeling up here for a while!! ;)
Looks like you guys had alot of fun. You guys will have to make a trip back down this way in December or January. Hopefully there will be lots of snow. If you ever want to run Elbe let us know, we'd be glad to run it with you. It's alot tighter than Evans Creek. Body damage in some spots with a scout.

It rains here ALL the time, non stop.
:D :D
harkinoff 10-28-2002, 10:24 PM great pics, its pretty back there!! hey hooper how do you keep that scout of yours looking so straight?
Harvester of Sorrow 10-29-2002, 07:34 AM He keeps it straight by taking the alternate lines.....he he he he!
:flipoff2:
Shadow man 10-29-2002, 11:01 PM Pat, isnt there some killer mud wheeling south of St Helens? Man I would love to hit some mud! Just don't get behind me:D

Newbies who aren't on the trails need to keep quiet!!
That WAS the alternate. The main portion was a walk in the park around that section!!! Rick and I took the hard line, to make it interesting.
There are a few lines around here I am not crazy enough to go after, but only because the roll potential is insanely high. Otherwise, if it is there, I try it!!
When are you going to be on the trail, harvester. Sounds like follow the leader time to me!!! :D :D :D
It is not really as straight as it looks. The pictures are deceiving. But, most of my damage is rearward of the rear axle. I always seem to drag it around stuff. Got both rear quarters this trip out. Especially the gas filler neck. I am always catching that on stuff. Bent my gas cap so bad this trip, I can't get it off. Going to have to get out the big prybar and bust it off. This is a locking cap. I am going to go to a simple twist on style. That way, if it gets hammered, it does not get stuck in the locked position. Gas caps are cheap.
Besides, I know how to drive....
I thought I was going over a couple times on this trail, running high on the banks, etc, but it stayed on the ground. Good suspension I guess... ;)
One of these days I will push it too far, and then I will be crunched like the rest of you trailer queens... :D

TOOOOO FAAAARRRRR.
Took over two hours. That is wheeling time spent burning up the pavement. And the seats in my rig are NOT comfortable. Stock straight backs with no lumbar support. My back was killing me by the time I got home. I am going to buy one of those lower back pillows to put in, but it will be a while before I am up to a drive of that length again.
That reminds me. I gotta figure out why my heater does not work. Probably a blown fuse...
My dash lights don't work either. Must be the same fuse.

Yep. Also, Tahuya, and Elbe hills are serious mud pits.
Yuck. Mud makes a mess and I don't have your tires or your supercharger to properly move it from under my rig!!! ;)

Actually, it was raining all day down below. But, we got above the clouds where it is always sunny.
I should take picture out the window today though. Gorgeous blue skies. Not a cloud in sight. Colder though.

TOW RIG.
Repeat after me, TOW RIG.
Now say "Captain's Chairs".. and "quiet"(er)..
Get off your rear, drag your Travelall home to your new house, and get to work!

That reminds me also- your left rear tail light is intermittant. On again/ off again sometimes flickering.:)

Hmm, seems I have some electrical issues. Why am I not surprised... ;)
Thanks for the heads up Rick. Must have been annoying watching it flicker at you all the way back.
Tom, my tow rig is gone. The travelall flew the coop for parts unknown.... DK what happened to it.

D'oh!
*I* know what happened to it.. you slept on it too long and someone else wanted it more.
Next time someone offers you a free tow-rig.. ya gotta move on it.
Lots of people are willing to "buy" IH Iron for the low-low price of FREE.
I might be able to come up with a free IH truck or T'all for you, Pat... if you want one.. :D
Well when is your next trip planned and where? We'd be willing to drive north for while or maybe a overnighter. Our next trip is Naches Nov 8,9,10 & 11

Just a tip when you try to pop off that locking gas cap - make sure the inner portion doesn't break completley off from the outer portion and fall down into the tank... A real PITA!! And yes I speak from experience... And Yes it is still in my tank/fill tube...
The standard caps are much safer on that issue as they don't really have an inner portion to worry about.

Yes...I know, Idle threats will get me no-where real fast! Actually November is a positive cashflow month in my household!!
WOOOOOOOhOOOOOOO!! So I am going to try to upset my wife the best way I can with working on the Harvester.
All that I have to do to put it on the road is glue up the valley pan, intake, and vavle covers. Tab it and find a CJ/SSII mirror for CHEEP.
Soon....old grasshopper!

No projects for a little while. Maybe next year sometime. I am going to talk to Jim Aos and try to get a pickup from Eastern Washington. That is what I really want, in any case and he gets them really cheap all the time. Besides, I think your giveaways would cost me too much to get into good enough shape to tow with... ;)
Yeah, I sat on it too long. But, since it was not running, I was not in too big of a hurry...

Well, November is a trip up highrider, but I am not sure if I will make that one or not. Depends.
After that, probably nothing in December, in fact, with winter here, a lot of the trails will be closing down for a few months. Time to do some wrenching to get ready for spring.

rolling, rolling, rolling.... rolling, rolling, rolling... rolling, rolling, rolling, in my gas tank... <to the tune of *Cowhide*.
Sounds like a real pain. I will watch for that. Thanks. Fortunately the filler neck is not bent, it really looks like just the chrome ring on the cap is bent. Should be easy to fix.
Sprung another oil leak I have to run down though.
<sigh>

Well, the only thing that is going to be open soon is Reider Pit. But, I am sure we can find some fun stuff to play in there. Tree trail gets pretty muddy...
Time to do some ignition waterproofing.
Biggest problem is that we only have about 6 hours of daylight for the next month or so.... and I am not a big fan of nighttime wheeling.

That is because your tough trails look this.

And the only way to make them fun is to pour ice all over them!!!!! :D :D :D

A-yup, pretty much.
If it doesn't have a few feet of snow on it, it's not worth going.
