There will be a cleanup on the West side of Table Mesa Rd on November 6, 2010. I realize that this is still a few months out, but I wanted to get the word out as soon as I could (in hopes for more volunteers). I'll post up more information, as I get it.

This will be a great opportunity to meet a bunch of like-minded 4x4 enthusiasts, to see some really well-built rigs, and to help keep our trails Clean and OPEN. I hope to see you there!

I'd be there if I wasn't 350+ miles away. Loved that place when I wheeled it earlier this year.
Bump for a good cause.

Don't let a little thing like 350 miles stop you!
I just drove about 500 miles for the Farmington cleanup and I'm getting in plenty of wheeling while I'm here!

Is there a club sponsoring this cleanup? Does BLM know of the cleanup?
would be good visibility to have.

Yes sir! It was ~600 for me, and worth every mile traveled to help out ANY wheelin' area!

X2. Is there any additional information yet? I'm interested in coming down to help! The area is awesome, but when I was there a few months ago I could really tell it needs our help.

Ted doesnt get on here much , here is one of his latest updates

Just wanted to give a quick update: Chris @ the BLM was able to borrow a 40 yd rolloff dumpster from the County. The one condition is that they want someone to camp out so that no one shoots it up and/or lights it on fire. With this in mind, I'll be camping out at Table Mesa on Friday, Nov 5th.

Also, Chris is working on getting a full sized map printed out of the TM area (that should help us with planning the cleanup sites). If I get the map prior to our Sept meeting, I'll bring it along.

I PM'd Tim Huber (organizer of the 4 Peaks Pickup) to get some pointers on how to organize a cleanup, and how to ask for (and actually get) donations from companies. Some large companies require a Tax ID and also non-profit status. I'm going to check with TreadLightly! to see if they can help us on that front (it would be awesome if we could use their info). Without the non-profit status, we may only be able to get smaller, local companies to donate, but that is OK, too.

I need your help in getting the word out to as many people as possible about this cleanup. If you are on other boards please post up on those sites. Thanks for your help! If all the clubs work together, we can make a difference at Table Mesa.

Yes sir, the BLM will be there, as will their volunteer group called the OHV Ambassadors. The Arizona Xterra Club has donated 10 boxes of the heavy-duty contractors trashbags, and M&I bank has donated a bunch of cases of bottled water. The folks from TreadyLightly! have donated some swag for the giveaway at the end of the cleanup, and one of their master Tread Trainers will be on hand as well. Trasharoo has donated one of their really cool offroad garbage bag holders. Over the next few weeks, I will be working with additional local companies to get more donations for the giveaway.

I am talking with the Chris @ the BLM to get the lunch coordinated (they are no longer allowed to buy food for cleanups, but they have some partner organizations that should be able to step up and buy the food). I am also getting a flyer made up to be distributed to all interested parties.

This event is shaping up to be a good size cleanup. There are many different 4x4 clubs that will be there: AZXC, AZVJC, AZFJ, Arizona K5 Blazers, TTORA, Zuks of AZ, Higher Ground 4x4, alloffroadaz, and several more clubs. There will also be several ATV/UTV clubs, a few dirtbike clubs, a mountain bike club (MBAA), a HAM radio club (4x4HAM.com), and even a radio-controlled car club (RCCrawlers.com). I have also posted up on several local hunting/shooting websites as well.

If you have a business, and would like to donate to the cleanup (we could use gloves, food/snacks, and giveaway items), please PM me here or <email removed>. I'm really excited about this cleanup, and I know that we can make a really good impact out at Table Mesa. Thanks for your support, and I look forward to seeing you all there.

Thanks for organizing this clean-up. The shooter clubs also need to go out their and pick up their trash.

I have contacted the following local shooting/hunting organizations:

arizonashooting.com
arizonahuntingtoday.com
gunandgame.com

I am also contacting the local NRA reps to see how we can engage them in the cleanup, as well.

The two biggest problems at Table Mesa are illegal dumping and shooting debris. The catch here is that most of the people in the clubs listed above are responsible shooters / hunters. It is the ignorant / unafilliated shooters and the trash dumpers that give Table Mesa a black eye.

The BLM is requesting additional LEO presence at Table Mesa in next year's budget. That should help discourage illegal behavior. Also, their volunteer group (the OHV Ambassadors) will be doing more meet and greet events out at Table Mesa, and will have many opportunities to spread the Tread Lighltly! message of "Respected Access is Open Access". There are several new PSAs that deal specifically with shooting debris, illegal dumping, and staying on trails. It will take some time to educate all users at Table Mesa, but it can be done. Actually, it must be done, otherwise the area could be closed down.

I'm looking forward to this cleanup, and I hope that all of the different types of desert recreationists will attend. Personally, I use Table Mesa for hiking with my dog, riding my ATV, offroading with my 4x4, and target shooting with my firearms. It is one of the unique places in the valley that all users should help keep clean and OPEN.

Thanks Stump, but it was really all of the volunteers who made deserve all the credit. In all, we collected just over 15 tons of trash!!!

Thanks again to all who volunteered / donated / sponsored this event. It was a great success!

EDIT: I almost forgot, here is a link to some pictures that my friend Robert (RJCX) took. There are 52 images in total:
