: 73-87 Chevy Winch Bumpers from RLC
jamscal 09-07-2010, 06:38 AM 1973 to 1987 GMC/Chevy Winch Bumpers.
There is not much on the body to interfere with the bumper design so I can do just about anything you want.
This one is styled basically like my other winch bumpers but can be modified of course. A few elements on this one were customer specified.
$475 plus shipping for one like this. (generally $65 to the west coast, but as low as $45 the closer you get to Louisville, KY) Email, PM or call for a shipping quote.
1/4" Mounts 3/16 construction.
Thanks for looking.

I've done a few different versions lately. PM for a price on these.
The first is a large bumper with the winch inside the bumper.

jamscal 01-19-2011, 06:52 PM Do u make anything for the 89-98 trucks? I would buy one of those for my '97 if u can build one.
I just got an order for my first one and will built it as soon as I can get to the junkyard for a bumper/dimensions.
I'll have a new listing for them when it's finished as I've had a bunch of interest.
If you don't see it in a few weeks post up and remind me:D
Thanks,
James
Red Chevy 01-19-2011, 08:37 PM Will do buddy. Are u gonna do like the tube style? And can u built it for a 3" bodylift?
madhouse 01-20-2011, 08:07 AM Did you get installed pics of your two latest bumpers? Interested in either of of them. Will they both hold a warn 8274?
jamscal 01-20-2011, 07:08 PM Will do buddy. Are u gonna do like the tube style? And can u built it for a 3" bodylift?
Once I build the first one (plate style), I'll be able to do it.

Thanks.

85chris 02-01-2011, 08:38 AM How much for the tube bumper for an 85 k10? And possibly with a skidplate?
jamscal 02-01-2011, 06:56 PM How much for the tube bumper for an 85 k10? And possibly with a skidplate?
I think I did that one for the same price as the regular bumper: $450 plus $65 shipping.
What kind of skid? There's nothing to bolt the other end to, unless you go back up to the frame maybe?
I could extend that lower panel down and add some holes or plas out a design.
Price on that will vary, but I do a skid plate on Jeep ZJs that is $75 extra.
Thanks,
James

Think u could make one for a '77 trail duster?
jamscal 02-15-2011, 02:17 PM Think u could make one for a '77 trail duster?
Yes.
Someone told me that older Dodge Front Frame rails are 28" apart like the Chevy...if that's true we're good to go.
I can make mods of course to make it fit otherwise.
Let me know if you want to order one.
Thanks,
James
jamscal 02-21-2011, 04:09 AM First pic. He said his frame horns are bent a bit and he's not finished adjusting.
There is plenty of adjustment in the bumper as the mounts are separate from the bumper.
This truck also has a 3" BL and I can make those brackets work with stock height or any BL.
Got hammered on shipping, so these bumpers are going to be $575 plus shipping to your zip. Plan on $100 but I'll get a quote. Cali might be a bit more, closer to 40213 (Louisville) should be a bit less.
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j118/jamscal/88chevybumper.jpg
I'll make a new listing for these later bumpers in the near future.
Thanks for looking.

jamscal 02-22-2011, 04:33 PM Any updates on the big style chevy bumper? I would like to see the top of it to compare it to your 88-98 bumpers or mounted would be great?
No response from the customer...here is an in progress pic of the top of it. Access hole is for the winch lever of course. I can make that hole square, put a plate on top, etc.
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j118/jamscal/IMG_5376.jpg
There are several in progress pics before and after this one in my photobucket account. Feel free to browse it. Page 4/5 of the main album:

Finally, I made that big one based on the customer's wants. I can make just about anything you want.
Thanks,

RestForYourSouls 02-24-2011, 08:07 AM May be a weird question....what's the weight difference between the plate bumper and tube bumper for the 73-87. Is the plate version way heavier than the tube?
Thanks
jamscal 02-24-2011, 02:11 PM May be a weird question....what's the weight difference between the plate bumper and tube bumper for the 73-87. Is the plate version way heavier than the tube?

I don't remember the weight of the tube bumper but it's less than the plate. My regular plate bumper is in the neighborhood of 70lbs. The tube bumper was probably 45-55lbs.
Thanks,
James

bscman 05-08-2011, 09:38 AM Interested in the bumper from pic 1 for my '86.
Got any pics of one with a bull bar/brushguard/ similar?
What would the added cost be for one added?
I'm looking for a little extra radiator protection against bambi as my rig is also a D.D...and a little extra winch protection.
Something like this would be sweet.
http://nates4x4.com/galleries/bumpers/cj_tj_yj_front/scaled.000_0290.JPG
(Stolen from nates4x4.com from jeep bumper)
Also, can you do rounded shackle mounts, vs the squared off ones you have pictured?
Thanks!
jamscal 05-08-2011, 07:45 PM I can do anything from a simple hoop as pictured to a full upper bar.
Upper bars welded on really hurts the shipping. In fact, they usually have to go truck freight.
I ship a bunch of tubes with the bumper but unwelded, and the customer has them welded on locally. A simple hoop like that may be an additional $50. Maybe $75 for a hoop with two side supports and $100 or more for full upper bar with two additional supports.
You might look at my xj or zj bumper threads to see some of those styles.
Thanks,
James
wvregulators 06-03-2011, 05:07 PM Hey, saw your bumpers.. they look great. How soon could I have one made for a 1997 Suburban, unpainted (like the one that is on the white explorer), that would handle a 10,000 pound wench? I am in Indianapolis and would be more than willing to drive down and pay in cash and pick it up when it is ready. I grew up in Valley Station. What side out Louisville are you on?
jimmer 06-03-2011, 05:22 PM WINCH. WINCH. if you have a 10K 'wench'...she is a big girl... LOL

I don't paint any of them, and I'm about two weeks out currently on building bumpers.
Need at least a deposit to get started.
I grew up in Valley Station too and my parents are still there. Near the ZOO right now and my shop is close to GE Appliance Park.
Thanks,
James
wvregulators 06-03-2011, 07:42 PM Would a $250 deposit be okay? I can bring it down to your shop next weekend. How much more would it be to have the bar that goes over the winch? I'm sure we can work out the details when I drop off the deposit. By the way, I went to Jesse Stuart high school when it was still a high school. Graduated in '80.
jamscal 06-04-2011, 06:15 AM $250 will be fine.
Small world, I went to Stuart (middle).
Usually an extra $50 for hoop over the winch area.

jamscal 06-05-2011, 05:57 PM How about a plate style rear with a swing out tire carrier (83 GMC Jimmy)?
Got one going out tomorrow.
This is going to mount to the factory 1/2" thick mounts that stick out from the frame.
Don't have a truck to build from otherwise. Similar style to my explorer bumpers with tire carriers if you want to see one installed.

400blazer 01-01-2012, 06:00 PM whats the price on the tube bumper for a 75 k5 plus shipping to sac ca also will it hold a smittybilt 12000 winch thanks
joe231 01-01-2012, 06:33 PM I'm interested in just the bumper center on the tube bumper to hold a 8274 and fit a 81-up truck.
Any idea what shipping to Alaska 99567 would be?
jamscal 01-01-2012, 08:19 PM No pics on the big bumper installed unfortunately.
Hybrid bumper same price as the regular, upper hoop/side supports will have to be welded on locally to save on shipping. The winch should fit fine but I'll double check and make adjustments as necessary
Just the center can be made as well, but to make one for a 8274 would be more custom and not look exactly like the 'regular' center. I'm thinking $450 shipped to Alaska would be a fair price. (I'm guessing a center would run $75-100 in shipping charges).
PM, call or post for more info.
Thanks for the interest, guys.
jamscal 01-21-2012, 09:17 AM Slightly larger and more aggressive version for the 73-87 models.
This one is for a 1" body lift.
It's going out Monday and hopefully I'll get installed pics on this one.
The older trucks are fairly simple to do any sort of custom design on.

jamscal 02-20-2012, 06:01 PM Frame rails are 28" outside to outside...less than 24" inside if you're lucky.
Warn 12000 is just over 24" long, 8000 is under 22", so it would have to be offset.
But, pick your winch and I'll make anything for you, and hopefully sell a few more in the process.

rescue25 02-28-2012, 08:16 AM can you or have you built one like pic#66 or the one on the red tahoe for an 06 gmc sierra 1500?
jamscal 03-02-2012, 07:43 PM Here's a 2000 I just did. Not too familiar with the later trucks and frame mounting differences for the 2000+, but we can compare notes.
Did a total bolt-on mounting over the factory mess of stock bumper mounts...really it needs to be cut off but some don't want to cut anything.
