I recently paid too much money to have an E-locker installed with 30 spline shafts on my Dana 30 at 4wheel parts in Tacoma, WA. I am no expert on axles but I basically under stand how they go together, so I pull this thing apart the other day to replace the oil seals (of course it leaks already) and I find that the shim packs are on the outside of the bearing! Like I said I'm no expert but i'm pretty sure those go under the bearing. Has anyone ever heard of this before? is it some kind of ploy to get you a couple thousand miles down the road and make you come back for more parts?

Here's a list of shit they f@$ked up so all of you know not to have work done at 4 wheel parts;
Axle leaks lots of oil, from both seals and from the hole they drilled and didn't really seal for the E-locker wires.
Shim packs are on the wrong side of bearing.
Speedometer didn't work (had an after market device to adjust it for different tire size that they conveniently disabled by ripping the power wire from the fuze box).
Rear brakes didn't function, they didn't dial out the shoes.

All this for a hundred dollars an hour in labor, what a deal.http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/images/smilies/pissed.gif

I guess this is what I get for polishing a turd.

so take it back to them. they cant make it right if they dont know about it or have a chance.

if they wont make it right then take it to another shop, have them document it and get your money and what ever it take s to cover the new shops bill is.

or do it yourself next time.

What he^ said, don't take shit there in the future, try Auburn Car Repair (http://www.auburncarrepair.com/www.auburncarrepair.com/Welcome.html) for future needs. They have always done a great job for me and took care of my Dad's XJ when he went down there.
