Need help! My 83 CJ7 will not start anymore.It is a 258 with a weber carb. It use to run ok but it would back fire ever once and again. Well it seemed to get worse. Then it started dying when I got up to speed on the highway. Usually around 45mph. When it died it would not actually die completely. You could here it still running but when you pressed the gas it didn't respond. Sometimes you could pop the clutch and keep driving and other times you would have to restart with the key. It just barely seemed to run, almost with a very low rumble.
Well now things have got progressively worse. It will not start at all. I just changed out the fuel filter and it still will not start. I fI try going down a hill and popping the clutch it almost starts but it never does.
Does anybody have any ideas on what Ishould attack next?

Sounds too me like you are losing your fuel pressure. What kind of pump do you have.....
