2 hiccups, one delayed us for ages was the bearings didnt want to come out of the box!!

now it is getting the internal spline machined

so hopefully its all coming along, definitely won't be before the end of november

sorry guys

got a comp on, that i am busily prepping my junk for, then its off to that, and when i get back ill swing right into it! ;)

No prob, thanks for the info, I am really interested in the setup. In my 60 I would like to run the 4:11 and be able to put the second bos in 2nd to make up for the overdrive and lack of power to push the 37 MTRs. I could probably come up with a 16 spline second box cheap to use as the first or second box with my 19 spline H42. Which boxes are you using?? Only got 4 speeds here and not enough $$ for a 5 speed.

Thanks

i bought some junked 5 speeds for cheap one was only $35
BUT

i am joining two 19spline 4 speeds, and you will need to use either two 19tooth boxes or two 16tooth boxes, no mixing and matching, cause the shafts are bigger in the 19tooth one, and the input and output bearings are the same, and the shafts can be made the same........

gimme till the end of the month ill out some pics up give youse an idea!!

trd 55,
Do you mean push the 37" MTR on road or off?

Cruiserbrett, the answer is both. With two H42s, one box in 4th and one in 2nd would be the equivilent of having 5.79 gears. which would put my rpms at 3420.77 with 37" tires@65mph. If I had one a five speed in 5th and a 19 tooth 4 speed in second i would have the equivilent of 4.89 gears, giving me 2889 rpms @ 65 mph. With stock 4.11 gears and a single H42, I would get 2428 rpms @ 65 mph. This would be good for highway use but could be out of power. I think that the 2f has enough torque at low rpms for it not to be affected, but if it is dual trannies is one more option than just gears or just a crawler box.

im cornfused

have you got a 19tooth 5speed?
if you have all you gotta do is get the 4 speed 19tooth, and take the front gear out, get the shaft cut off, get it splined internally, and build your plate (some minor measuring, but ill have all the pics and $hit soooon!!!) it'll be easy, ill let you know on PBB, when i get the spline cut and how much it was (i gave up on the collar, for this will be easier, shorter and cheaper :D

BJ,

No I do not have a 5 speed, but either the 4 or 5 speed are available. I have not had the tranny apart yet, and am unfamiliar with the input shaft on them. I was under the impression that the input was 10 spline and the out put was 19 for the tcase. Am I wrong? What is the diameter of the input and output, and the input spline? If I m just cutting off the original input on the tranny and doing an internal spline, why could I not just spline it for a readily(cheaper) H41 16 spline? I guess what I need to do is get a hold of a tranny to scope it out and get the gears (pun intended) working.:D It does seem ot easy to be real...
