I have found a source for c303's for 1750.00 euro. I have NO idea if this is a good price or not. Email if you want the info. According to the source, they will need rubber replacement.

www.rockbuggysupply.com is getting a container full of them.
Prices are $1000 each front or rear. The shipment is still 8-12 weeks out.
Being as this guy is in CA $2000 for a pair of portal steering axles with lockers and low gearing sounds like a great deal to me.
I'm on the list for 2 or 3 fronts:D

BASTARDS!!! I sure wish Ron whould have gotten off his ass sooner (before I bought my 60/70)! :flipoff2: :)

Those axles sure do look like they're gonna' be winners provided spares are/will stay avaliable.

"I sure wish Ron whould have gotten off his ass sooner"

Hey, I was off my ass! When you want to be first it takes some time.

:flipoff2:

The reason they are becoming available NOW is that the swedes have scrapped all their C303.

As far as rubber replacement the wheel cylinders look like run of the mill girling stuff. CV boots would be tough though extremeaxle has a source.

after a bit of a debate with a good friend, we both came to the conclusion that these axles would not survive long runs at highway speeds due to their limited hub oil capcaity. Is our reasoning flawed, or is this the general concensus regarding running these axles on a non-trailor queen.

The solution is to get bigger boggers so the axles don't need to spin as fast at speed :D

I looked on the rockbuggysupply page and in one place he quotes 1000 per axle and another it's 2000 per axle Which one is right?

I've called him and it is $1000 each. $2000 a pair. Front or rear same price.

Non-trailor queen? Hmmmmm. A <shiver> daily driver <shiver>?

I think if your going to step up to a mod of that magnitude, your not likely to keep it on the street and/or pull 1100 mile trips to your favorite trail.

so you could get two rears for 2000? That's a pretty good deal if you are going to put some bulletproof axles and want rear steer would definately be good for a buggy. So now we know why shane is selling off his axles. Definately take pics

Hee hee hee!!! Okay. I'll make you a deal Ron. You drive your portal rig, out to Moab, Cruses, Farmington etc., I will meet you there and personally take care of 2 dinners with beer(s), at a resturant of your choice, for you and a significant other! Can't beat that with a stick!

Mike, this offer doesn't stand with you and your S1! That ride is WAY too cush for that...Maybe a beer of your choice though!

Well, I have a portal axle truck, and I would drive it anywhere, if it got good gas mileage, had the power needed to pull up hills on the highway, and had bearings not bushings in the tranny. the Mog will hold 60mph most of the time, but it can get slow going up steep NM hills. but it always makes it. Mogs are mainly limited by there power, and the bushings in the tranny. Mog axles will handle about 70mph sustained, if they are in good order. daily driving is not an issue with portal axles. But the drive train before is. If I had about 50more horses, and an over drive, I would be drivng my mog every where. the longest drive i have done in it was from San Antonio to Dallas. Not sure what the mileage is, but it took awhile. I did the math once, and I basically tack on 15minutes to every normal hour it takes to get somewhere. adds up fast though, my normal 10 hr drive to albuquerque NM from dallas would be 12.5 hr by Mog. As for around town, it doesent make a difference. The mog is just a pain due to how hard it is to get in and out, and I am 6'5"

Huh????

My ride ain't cush! NO way man!!! :flipoff2:

Just because I have an inflatable lumbar support for the drivers seat, and I have a CD player that's full of sand doesn't mean it's cush! Sheeshe! What have I got to do go get some respect around here??? (In best Rodney Dangerfield voice)

I'm gonna go put some more dents in it now!

I'll take a.....root beer! ;)
