: Hey Daniel, Can you explain this?
Grandpa Jeep 10-30-2002, 11:36 AM Saw this on your site

A HP70? Never heard of one before. Is that really what it is? Where do you get gears for that?

Steve you need to be posting all these picture on YOUR site. I don't think everyone who would visit it knows all the cool stuff you are capable of. Just want you to get credit where credit is due :D
Old Scout 11-01-2002, 08:00 AM Grandpa Jeep I have built a few marine engines and let me know if you need reverse rotation engine!:D :D

No, don't need a marine engine, I just saw a discussion on another forum about that page and I thought I'd ask daniel about it.
Steve, I'm curious though. It seems every time some newbie asks if he can make a hi pinion out of a low pinion by flipping it over, someone always pipes up with, "you'll burn up the pinion bearings" (It always cracks me up, cause they never mention that you'll be going backwards. ) Anyway, did you have to do anything special to lubricate the pinion bearings?

somebody needs to actually READ my website..
I could give a shit about your website  Not everything involves you.
My point was that if you hear about "Differential Engineering" and visit Steve's site "Differentialeng.com" you don't get to see all the cool stuff he makes which might entice a customer to buy from him vs. say Dynatrac. You don't see the Mog9s, you don't see the "HP70", you don't see the narrowed Rockwells, you don't see the Rockwells with disc brakes, you don't see the Dana80 fronts, etc.

Bigdude, what do you do for a living?
Want to be a consulting engineer?
honesty is such a rare trait in the biz...
and yeah, Steve's site is in desperate need of some content.

I can answer that one...
steve has worked long and hard for many years becoming the Axle Guru that he is ..
If he were to release his trade secrets ...what business would he generate? Steve needs to be paid for all his research and effort.. IE he doesnt release this to the public :)
I'm not asking what the modification is, I'm just curious if one is necessary. If so, no need to dispel exactly what he did. If that's still getting too much in his secrets then I apologize.

Grandpa didn't ask what the secret was now did he? He asked if lubrication was something that had to be considered to keep from burning up the pinion bearings. A simple yes or no would do.

mytzlflick 11-02-2002, 01:00 PM couldn't you just run a sealed style bearing on the pinion to eliminate the lube problem? or do they not make me for that?
just curious cause this gives me an awsome idea for my old dana70's
