I have an older Advanced Adapter adapter for a th350 (4x4) and a dana 20. This adapter is about 2 inches think and has a femal input and bearing on one side for the transmission and shaft and bull gear on the other for the t-case. there is a Nut that holds the bull gear on and I was curious if anybody knew or had any suggestions on how tight to torque the nut to.

On another note this adapter has been sitting in my shop for some time so is pretty dirty. I was going to ask if anybody had any suggested methods of cleaning something like this. Basically there is some particles and what not in the bearing and on the adapter itself.

I tried calling AA about this particular adapter and they said it is to old to have info on.

thanks,

I would assume that the torque is the same for that as it would be for any tranny that uses that bull gear (T-18, t-90, etc). I'd search the web for that spec.

Cleaning: Dunno, good luck!

Clean it off in a solvent tank, then air dry it with a blow gun. I assume the bearing in unsealed, squirt a little tranny fluid on it, and call it good as new! :skull:

Thanks for the tips guys. Here is the adapter in question (found pictures in forsale section).

Now that we have some good pictures any body see a way of clocking it. It seems redrillable from the t-case side but it looks like the holes would end up right on a ridge. Anybody tell if this would be strong enough. If so could a machine shop do this for me (no drill press).
