I am curious about what gear ratio's were available from the factory on both the Dana 60 and 14 bolt.

Also, according to a pair of tables I'm looking at, the highest gear ratio available for the Dana60 is 3.33 with the next being 3.54. The highest gear ratio available for the 14 Bolt is 3.42. Which of the Dana60 ratios match the 3.42?

My uncle has a 3+3 dually with 60/14 running 4.88 FACTORY. :eek:

I think a lot of the 14 bolt/D60 trucks had 4.10 gears, atleast that is what I see in my area. And to clarify, you are looking for numerically low gears? Is this a highway beast or something different, like with Mog outers?

in military chevys with a D60/corp14 they came with 4.56 gears

The rig in question is going to see a lot of highway miles and has no overdrive:( So yes, I'm looking for gears that will help at the top end. I'm trying to select a gear ratio that will give my engine its optimal RPM at around 70mph. 3.70 gears are almost what I need. I know the 4.10 gears will be too low. The 3.33 gears would put me almost dead on.

It will have that nice 203 gear reduction box and its an auto... so offroad isn't too big of a deal :p

3.73, 4.10 and 4.56 were the most popular GM D60/14 bolt axle ratio's with 4.10 being the most widely used out of the three, sounds like 3.73 would be ideal for you.

The tallest matching ratio you wil find is 3.73 The tallest ratio I've seen for the 14 bolt is, believe it or not is 3.21 and i have a set to prove it. Came out of an early 80's 2wd. This set is only avail. from chevy now for the paltry price of about 600. if they are still in stock.
