The bumper has to be strong so when I pull out my budies Jeep

Nawww...Everyone knows that the stock bumper is ALOT stronger than the aftermarket crap...dont waste your time with it, just tie a piece of 3/8" cloths-line to you bumper and the JHeep...that'll work really well! :D
Don't belive me?!?!? Look at that JHeep your pulling out...whats on it...ALL that aftermarket crap!!!! And HE got stuck
Oh...and welcome :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Now that some have had fun:D
One way I do mine is I sleeve the stock cross member tubes with 1 5/8" tube capped with a nut welded to the cap. Two new easy mounting points.
The front, sleeve the stock holes in the frame, with a recessed cap in the tube so that makes 6 including the two new nuts in the tube.
Back, I usually mount the 4 holes that the tow bar attaches. Then with the nuts in the rear tube. So that make 6 there as well.
I'm not a big fan of mounting to the body mount in the back, but some do it

I know to mount to the frame. What I need help on is different brackets designs and where to bolt or weld to the frame. I really do not want to weld the bumper directly to the frame. that's easy. Making and placing brackets is more difficult. :)
NEWBIE FLAME OUT DID NOT WORK.
NOW SOME INTELLIGENT HELP;)

I bolted mine to the end of the frame and to the body mounts at the headlights.
The reason - LIFT LAWS
West Virginia law requires the bumper to be "collapsable"
Otherwords stock or namebrand aftermarket.
So once a year I take the winch bumper off and bolt the stock one, hook up the quick connects on the lights and go get an MODIFIED INSPECTION sticker.
Other than that, I would have welded to the frame/cross tube.
I'm looking for a tow rig, already have the trailer - Forget this lift law crap and cops giving me hard looks when I go by:flipoff2:
Welcome newbie :flipoff2:

For the front, frame is essential. For our bumpers, we also like to use the forward body mount points. This triangulates the strength a bit since the frame is usually lower than where your winch will be mounted. Good to get some high mounting points too. Pull the grill off and you'll see those bolts. Use 3/16" plate and a couple of the thinner body pads from the rear of the vehicle.
Makes for a nice solid mount.
Some guys may like it, but I'd avoid welding to the frame if possible. Been there, done that. If the bumper ever needs to come off for any (usually unforeseen) reason, major PITA time. I ain't gonna go through that again......
YMMV.
