Don't have a lot of free time lately, so today I hopped in the Jimmy and went to Salida, CO then Buena Vista, then over Cottonwood pass to Crested Butte (easy, part dirt) then the fun part- Pearl Pass from Crested Butte to Aspen. Then Independence Pass, back to BV and home. Pearl Pass is pretty cool, Over 20 miles of 4lo granny gear terrain with 2nd gear lo now and then and the occasional 3rd gear until the hard bouncing would get annoying.:homer: Had some vapor locking issues on the 4 wheeling segments for some weird reason, never happened before in over 10 years of wheeling this rig, I'm going to redo the whole fuel delivery system, so I can hopefully get a few more trouble free years. Here's a few pics.551209

Next time I am camping somewhere close to the top.
Independence Pass at 9pm is fun, no traffic so hammer down.

Very cool day and see you brought your back up rig! Years ago I took Tin Cup pass from near BV over to Crusty Butt and wonder where it is in relation to the three passes you did? What altitude did you top out at? I drove up to 11,000 feet here in the Eastern Sierra last Sat and just curious.

Gotta get back to CO one day and hit some of these awesome passes again.

Man! I miss living in Co...

Broncdawg,
Are there any good/long trip's that leave or end up in your area? Or Whitney?

Yeah that was pretty enjoyable, had to take advantage of the warm fall weather we have been getting. I drove by one end of the Tincup pass road on my way down Cottonwood pass. Tincup pass is approx. 25+ miles southeast of Pearl Pass. Pearl Pass is at 12,705 feet. Yhose crazy miners put in a lot of amazing roads here.

Glad you liked the pics, I just wish I had got there a little sooner so I could have gotten some shots on the Aspen side going down. Just means I have to go back. The Groundhawgs do pretty well wheeling, they are siped too. I got staun beadlocks for the combo but have not installed them yet, didn't air down for this trip either anyway.
