: Atlas II & Klune-V in TJ Pics
Rokcrler 10-31-2002, 07:21 PM I searched and found no info on this combo. Heres some pics of the set up in a 4cyl, Auto equipted TJ. It was a PITA... but its done.

"Poser Name"??? Exactly how is that a poser name?
BTW, this is a customers rig, I dont have a need for a Klune-V in my rig, I think its an overkill set up not just a decent set up...
With an auto eehhhhhhh? I hope this dude has been working out his calves (sp?)
Rokcrler 10-31-2002, 07:58 PM Gonna 1 Ton his TJ first of the year, and he's planning on doing a Tuneport 350... It is kinda weird trying to hold the brakes when its in low-low...

Erik D_lux 10-31-2002, 09:01 PM Did you mount the crossmember off the Klune? If so do you have better pics?
Rokcrler 10-31-2002, 11:53 PM the Klune adapter and mounting plate were used but the mounting plate was just used as a 'spacer'. It didnt need to be mounted. I'll post better pics in a few days. the only mods to the skid plate that were needed was to cut the rear lip off where the Atlas would hit it and a flat skid was made to protect the level tube.

Used the stock tranny mount to skidplate. Even with my 200lbs i could not bounce the setup enuf to hit the skid...
How long is the rear driveline??10"???:D

That's what I was wondering...
Rokcrler 11-01-2002, 06:11 AM The front shaft needed to be lengthened 1.5" and the rear shortened 1.5". Front is running 2 joint shaft and rear is CV.

The atlas is that much shorter than the stock 231?
How long is the V-clune? 8"~10".
This might be a good excuse/advantage to get an atlas over teralow 231 kit.
Gives you a longer rear shaft.. :D

The you loose the length of your slip yoke and gain the choice of two gear choices.
Michael Lopas 11-01-2002, 07:52 AM The Klune, for a TJ, adds 7.5" between the tranny and the transfer case.
JohnnyJ 11-01-2002, 08:36 AM The Atlas is 2.5" shorter than a SYE'd 231. I can't remember how much shorter than a stock 231 it is.
As for using the stock skid, I would wonder if it will twist up when you are in low-low.
With a 4.0/NV3550/Atlas 4.3 combo, mine twists the stock skid and thumps the body. I would guess a 2.5/Auto/Klune/Atlas would produce more body thumping twisting torque than my setup.

Are you sure it is not twisting on the rubber tranny mount.
I am using an AA tranny mount with about a foot of seperation between the rubber 'pucks'. I don't have alot of twisting and am close to the body in several places.
I would think that spreading the mounts out further apart would be a good idea on a setup like this.
Rokcrler 11-01-2002, 05:36 PM This TJ is running a 1" bodylift and i really dont like 'bashing' the body like AA said was needed with the chosen clocked position.
The stock mount will be coming out on tues and i'm putting in a poly mount. Theres plenty of clearance between the Atlas and body so the torquing wont cause contact with the body. I might install a 1"x 2" crossmember attatched to the Klune mount from frame rail to frame rail to minimize drivetrain twist.
NE-RokToy 11-02-2002, 01:41 PM What ratio's is he running in each box? i agree also its overkill if he is gonna run a V-8, would work good with a 4cyl but useless with a V-8 (unless your goal is to eat alot of gas on the trail ;) )
Rokcrler 11-02-2002, 06:10 PM Klune-V Ratio: 1 to 1 high range; 2.7 to 1 low range
Atlas 4.3:1
4:56's, auto tranny, 33" SX's.

I currently have a poly trans mount in there. I checked the motor mounts too, but they are in good shape (1" Lift MORE Rubber). The skid is from a 2.5 TJ and is also in good shape.
I'm guessing it is the skid allowing the twist.
Rokcrler 11-05-2002, 05:11 PM Heres more pics with driveshafts installed...
