I think he was at SOR, it might be the same guy that didn't want to run the box in fear of scratches on the fresh paint...

From what I read in magazines, he had someone do most of the work for him.

If you have the $$ perhaps....NOT

Sure looks good though.

Caught a glimpse of it this morning in a friends mag. Front end is fresh. Looks good and has some goodies on it, but if fatty is right, the dude is :rainbow: FRESH PAINT! When I paint mine, I am purposly painting over the only dent ion the body just so that the "First" dent is out of the way. Drive it like you stole it!!!!!:flipoff2:

Based on the sticker and the shape of the front end it looks to be built by Grady Mcleod. Looks pretty cool, but it also looks like a real beotch to get in and out!

I don't care who made the rig and how much money is in it that thing is fucking sweet!!!

And who can complane if some one built it for him. Look at all of the "Store bought riggs" in all of the comp's out west! At least he is in to the sport and I am sure supporting it!

Paint on what?! There's not paint on body panels on the thing - I thought that was the whole point of these tube frame creations?

I think i have seen that rig on the 'con at the gatekeeper. My wife went up to him and there conversation went kind of like this:
wife: Nice Samurai
dud: Thanks....
Wife: did you build it?
dud: no.. it's a special off road edition from overseas
Wife: Too bad.. it would have been better if you would have actually built it. :smack:
Dud: :speechless: Drove away!

Is that the one that is running a 4.3 litre and 38's with stock sammi axles

Nah, I read the article this morning and it sits on Toy axles soon to be upgraded to D44's. The article gives all of the credit to the shop that fabbed it (Can't remember the name though. It is a sweet rig though. Has a 1/4 elliptical rear suspension. Here is the LINK (http://www.4wdandsportutility.com/features/02124wd_samurai/) to the article.

It looks good to me.
But you got to question - "Show car or Go Car"
Looks like it was built to go and bought for show.

If the guy paid someone to do the work, then he's not likely to "drive it like he stole it". It will cost him too much to fix it.

I'd trade him my junk for it, but it wouldn't be pretty for long.

Why the fawk does it matter? Fatkids rig is probably more "other" than "samurai". Does anyone care? Who cares if all that's left on it is a sammy hood, steering column, and a couple square feet of firewall? If it can get it, it's all good.

But if *it* can get it, and the driver don't wanna muss it up... :rainbow:

What would be the final total bill on something like that ?

Compared to a Spidertrax buggy.

And what about others out there.

I heard prices of $80,000 for Crustacean ? Is this true ?

Just an idea cos no one does anything like that in the UK.

It's all about shop rate...anywhere from $35-$70USD/hour adds up.

Most of these buggies are made from wrecked/salvaged vehicles plus custom stuff like t-case gears, lockers and such. Probably ranges from $5k to $20k depending on what/where/where went into it. The rest is labour (i.e R&D costs).

Some of these projects can be really cost effective, however some can blow your mind! I guess it all depends on what your looking to spend on it, not to mention the the start up cost on the rig you choose, if you even start with one. The price on a frame for us starts in the 3k range and goes from there.
